[00:00:00 - 00:00:01] The end moment where the kid steps up.
[00:00:01 - 00:00:02] Oh my gosh.
[00:00:02 - 00:00:03] It's so good.
[00:00:03 - 00:00:04] It is very good.
[00:00:04 - 00:00:05] Oh my gosh.
[00:00:05 - 00:00:06] It's a good ending.
[00:00:06 - 00:00:07] Yeah, it's a good ending.
[00:00:07 - 00:00:08] This movie is overrated.
[00:00:08 - 00:00:09] It is.
[00:00:09 - 00:00:10] Frick the haters, man.
[00:00:10 - 00:00:23] All right, guys, we are halfway through.
[00:00:23 - 00:00:24] Sure.
[00:00:24 - 00:00:25] Halfway.
[00:00:25 - 00:00:26] I think we've done four of these.
[00:00:26 - 00:00:27] Yeah, that sounds right.
[00:00:27 - 00:00:32] So we are on five of our Spider-Man marathon.
[00:00:32 - 00:00:33] Spider-Manathon.
[00:00:33 - 00:00:34] Spider-Manathon.
[00:00:34 - 00:00:36] Welcome back to my Line 8 fireside film podcast.
[00:00:36 - 00:00:37] I'm Grant.
[00:00:37 - 00:00:38] And I'm Drew.
[00:00:38 - 00:00:39] And today we're talking about Tasm 2.
[00:00:39 - 00:00:42] The amazing Spider-Man dose.
[00:00:42 - 00:00:43] And this is a movie.
[00:00:43 - 00:00:44] This is a movie.
[00:00:44 - 00:00:45] There's contention around.
[00:00:45 - 00:00:46] Is it good or not?
[00:00:46 - 00:00:47] Don't worry.
[00:00:47 - 00:00:48] Your questions will be answered here.
[00:00:48 - 00:00:49] It's on my line.
[00:00:49 - 00:00:52] The ultimate truth on Tasm 2 will be found right here.
[00:00:52 - 00:00:53] We are right.
[00:00:53 - 00:00:54] No one else is.
[00:00:54 - 00:00:57] So hit that subscribe button if you like our vibe and what we talk about.
[00:00:57 - 00:01:00] What do you think of rewatching Tasm 2?
[00:01:00 - 00:01:05] I didn't know that I was a Tasm fan going in.
[00:01:05 - 00:01:07] I loved this movie.
[00:01:07 - 00:01:08] Really?
[00:01:08 - 00:01:09] Yeah.
[00:01:09 - 00:01:14] I have issues, but I think people say this is the worst Spider-Man movie.
[00:01:14 - 00:01:15] Not even close.
[00:01:15 - 00:01:17] This is not the worst Spider-Man movie.
[00:01:17 - 00:01:18] Nope, it's not.
[00:01:18 - 00:01:20] The worst Spider-Man movie is Spider-Man 3.
[00:01:20 - 00:01:21] He's right.
[00:01:21 - 00:01:22] I know.
[00:01:22 - 00:01:23] Up until this point.
[00:01:23 - 00:01:25] People say far from home?
[00:01:25 - 00:01:26] No.
[00:01:26 - 00:01:27] Spider-Man 3 is worse.
[00:01:27 - 00:01:28] People say this movie?
[00:01:28 - 00:01:29] No.
[00:01:29 - 00:01:30] Spider-Man 3 is worse.
[00:01:30 - 00:01:34] I hate Spider-Man 3, but anyway, we're talking about Tasm 2 today.
[00:01:34 - 00:01:35] Talking about Tasm 2.
[00:01:35 - 00:01:36] Grant.
[00:01:36 - 00:01:37] Yes.
[00:01:37 - 00:01:38] What were your first?
[00:01:38 - 00:01:39] I'm not first impressions.
[00:01:39 - 00:01:40] What were your thoughts on Tasm 2?
[00:01:40 - 00:01:41] I have a takeaway.
[00:01:41 - 00:01:42] Okay.
[00:01:42 - 00:01:47] This movie is, it has more good than bad.
[00:01:47 - 00:01:48] Agreed.
[00:01:48 - 00:01:49] Yeah, it was a lot of bad.
[00:01:49 - 00:01:56] But it might be like a 55-45 split, but I think the 55% good is actually very good.
[00:01:56 - 00:01:57] Here's my take.
[00:01:57 - 00:02:02] We're just going to talk spoilers because this movie is over a decade old.
[00:02:02 - 00:02:03] Gwyn dies.
[00:02:03 - 00:02:04] Gwyn dies.
[00:02:04 - 00:02:05] That's the thing of this movie.
[00:02:05 - 00:02:11] I think that that makes the movie for me because here's the two movie arc in this
[00:02:11 - 00:02:15] is that Peter tells Gwyn that he's Spider-Man in movie one, which by the way you can
[00:02:15 - 00:02:18] watch a review up here.
[00:02:18 - 00:02:21] He has not learned these consequences yet.
[00:02:21 - 00:02:23] This movie teaches him the consequences.
[00:02:24 - 00:02:26] How Gwyn dies is kind of dumb.
[00:02:26 - 00:02:27] Agreed.
[00:02:27 - 00:02:30] At least with Green Goblin coming in or whatever.
[00:02:30 - 00:02:31] Also, Electra is really dumb.
[00:02:31 - 00:02:33] I think the villains are bad in this movie.
[00:02:33 - 00:02:34] Villains are terrible.
[00:02:34 - 00:02:35] That is the worst part of this movie.
[00:02:35 - 00:02:41] But the core story of Peter and Gwyn and Peter trying to stay away from Gwyn and then
[00:02:41 - 00:02:46] he doesn't and then he makes the decision against what Gwyn's dad told him to still
[00:02:46 - 00:02:47] be with Gwyn.
[00:02:47 - 00:02:48] And then Gwyn dies.
[00:02:48 - 00:02:52] That is a super impactful moment and it's a great moment.
[00:02:52 - 00:02:54] So I think that makes the movie for me.
[00:02:54 - 00:02:57] I think that's why this movie is not the worst Spider-Man movie.
[00:02:57 - 00:02:58] I agree.
[00:02:58 - 00:03:02] I think that I said this in my letterbox.
[00:03:02 - 00:03:08] This movie might have some of the biggest highs in all Spider-Man live action cinema.
[00:03:08 - 00:03:13] I think the only thing comparable maybe in my mind, note I said in my mind this is
[00:03:13 - 00:03:14] my opinion.
[00:03:14 - 00:03:15] Please don't destroy me.
[00:03:15 - 00:03:17] You do come on this podcast and watch this for opinions though.
[00:03:17 - 00:03:19] That's true.
[00:03:19 - 00:03:20] I think Raimi won when Peter walks away.
[00:03:20 - 00:03:25] It's the greatest Spider-Man moment I've ever seen.
[00:03:25 - 00:03:26] Gwyn dying.
[00:03:26 - 00:03:30] The fact there are consequences for Peter's actions and that he like something I love
[00:03:30 - 00:03:34] about these movies and maybe it's bad writing and I don't care.
[00:03:34 - 00:03:39] The fact that like in Raimi Peter learns with great power.
[00:03:39 - 00:03:42] Well, it's kind of the same actually Peter learns with great power comes great responsibility
[00:03:42 - 00:03:46] over the course of the first two movies truly and in this movie it's kind of the
[00:03:46 - 00:03:47] same way.
[00:03:47 - 00:03:48] Like yeah.
[00:03:48 - 00:03:55] He's stumbling through just his relationship and his life and trying to figure out how to
[00:03:55 - 00:04:02] best be a hero and I like that it's a long process and not a movie arc.
[00:04:02 - 00:04:03] Yeah.
[00:04:03 - 00:04:04] I completely agree.
[00:04:04 - 00:04:09] If we're jumping to kind of more the technical aspects of this movie this is also something
[00:04:09 - 00:04:12] that I have thought about both the amazing Spider-Man movies is they have a lot more
[00:04:12 - 00:04:17] visual character than I would say basically any MCU movie.
[00:04:17 - 00:04:18] Oh yeah for sure.
[00:04:18 - 00:04:25] Like I'm trying to think of a MCU movie or show that has distinct visual character.
[00:04:25 - 00:04:28] I just don't think that they have the same kind of character that these two movies have
[00:04:28 - 00:04:31] like are they perfect visually no.
[00:04:31 - 00:04:35] I mean are they the best visual movies of all time no but I think they look pretty
[00:04:35 - 00:04:36] good.
[00:04:36 - 00:04:41] I think Amazing Spider-Man 2 is so good in this department if not the best.
[00:04:41 - 00:04:42] Yes.
[00:04:42 - 00:04:46] Like a lecture's design dumb but how it looks on screen it looks pretty cool.
[00:04:46 - 00:04:50] I mean the Times Square fight it's so cool.
[00:04:50 - 00:04:51] Yeah.
[00:04:51 - 00:04:56] I mean a lot of the swinging some of it that was done in real life like Peter's in a suit
[00:04:56 - 00:04:58] looks great.
[00:04:58 - 00:05:00] I think this is the best Spider-Man swinging we've seen on screen.
[00:05:00 - 00:05:01] Period.
[00:05:01 - 00:05:02] Period.
[00:05:02 - 00:05:03] It's so cool.
[00:05:03 - 00:05:04] It's so good.
[00:05:04 - 00:05:05] The opening sequence.
[00:05:05 - 00:05:12] Not the opening sequence but after the prologue when it's like it starts on the logo and
[00:05:12 - 00:05:13] then fades from black.
[00:05:13 - 00:05:14] It's sick.
[00:05:14 - 00:05:15] Holy moly.
[00:05:15 - 00:05:16] It's awesome.
[00:05:17 - 00:05:18] The soundtrack is really great.
[00:05:18 - 00:05:19] I agree.
[00:05:19 - 00:05:23] This is a solid-ish movie.
[00:05:23 - 00:05:28] I don't think I've rated it on Letterbox today yet but I will I still think it's like two
[00:05:28 - 00:05:29] and a half stars.
[00:05:29 - 00:05:30] Oh really?
[00:05:30 - 00:05:31] Really?
[00:05:31 - 00:05:32] Maybe three.
[00:05:32 - 00:05:33] It might be a positive experience.
[00:05:33 - 00:05:35] It is just a positive experience.
[00:05:35 - 00:05:38] Okay then let's talk about the villains because this is where the movie is bad.
[00:05:38 - 00:05:40] Like it's straight up bad.
[00:05:40 - 00:05:41] We have Electro.
[00:05:41 - 00:05:42] Yep.
[00:05:42 - 00:05:43] We have Green Goblin.
[00:05:43 - 00:05:44] Yep.
[00:05:44 - 00:05:45] And we kind of have Rhino.
[00:05:45 - 00:05:46] Yep.
[00:05:46 - 00:05:47] We don't know.
[00:05:47 - 00:05:48] Why is he Russian accent?
[00:05:48 - 00:05:49] Who knows?
[00:05:49 - 00:05:53] Like it's just it doesn't make a lot of sense why that's Paul Giamatti but whatever.
[00:05:53 - 00:05:55] What do you think of the villains on this rewatch is true?
[00:05:55 - 00:05:56] Okay.
[00:05:56 - 00:05:58] Let's start with Harry.
[00:05:58 - 00:05:59] He was my favorite one.
[00:05:59 - 00:06:01] Harry was your favorite one?
[00:06:01 - 00:06:02] Well.
[00:06:02 - 00:06:03] No.
[00:06:03 - 00:06:04] I mean okay.
[00:06:04 - 00:06:05] They're all bad.
[00:06:05 - 00:06:06] I think they're all equally bad.
[00:06:06 - 00:06:07] He's horrible.
[00:06:07 - 00:06:08] No.
[00:06:08 - 00:06:11] Again like I think his arc is pretty good until the third act.
[00:06:11 - 00:06:14] I think that the execution is bad but we'll get there.
[00:06:14 - 00:06:20] I think his tension of my dad died from this disease that is now genetic.
[00:06:20 - 00:06:21] So therefore I have it.
[00:06:21 - 00:06:22] How do I not die?
[00:06:22 - 00:06:27] I think it's a very it's relatively compelling and understandable as humans who die.
[00:06:27 - 00:06:28] It's like okay.
[00:06:28 - 00:06:29] I don't want to die.
[00:06:29 - 00:06:30] I don't want to die.
[00:06:30 - 00:06:31] Sure.
[00:06:31 - 00:06:36] So when Harry is like he has convinced himself that the spider venom will cure him or
[00:06:36 - 00:06:37] whatever.
[00:06:37 - 00:06:38] The mosquitoes are everywhere.
[00:06:38 - 00:06:39] It's bad.
[00:06:39 - 00:06:41] It is summer.
[00:06:41 - 00:06:44] So he convinced himself that the spider venom will cure him.
[00:06:44 - 00:06:49] So therefore he's going to do everything he can to get it and he has this slight negative
[00:06:49 - 00:06:54] connotation towards Spider-Man and then he takes the spider serum which actually was
[00:06:54 - 00:06:55] turned into green goblin.
[00:06:55 - 00:06:59] That doesn't make a lot of sense lore-wise but never.
[00:06:59 - 00:07:04] So he takes the serum and goes insane and hates Spider-Man.
[00:07:04 - 00:07:07] I'm like I don't hate that from an arc.
[00:07:07 - 00:07:09] I just I think the execution is bad.
[00:07:09 - 00:07:10] It's really fast.
[00:07:10 - 00:07:12] I don't think they do a good job.
[00:07:12 - 00:07:15] I think this could have been a decent arc over two or three movies.
[00:07:15 - 00:07:16] Agreed.
[00:07:16 - 00:07:24] I think even though I don't like how Harry's arc is executed in Ramey's 3, Harry in that
[00:07:24 - 00:07:26] trilogy is significantly better than this Harry.
[00:07:26 - 00:07:30] Would you say that's because he had more time or because in 3 it executes the arc?
[00:07:30 - 00:07:34] More time but I also think that there is like this tension that is introduced specifically
[00:07:34 - 00:07:38] in Spider-Man 2 where Harry knows that Spider-Man is relatively responsible for
[00:07:38 - 00:07:42] his dad's death even though he's not like he has this idea.
[00:07:42 - 00:07:46] And then it puts Peter in a crazy situation because Peter's trying to keep his like identity
[00:07:46 - 00:07:51] from Harry like that he's Spider-Man like it's just like this whole tension point and
[00:07:51 - 00:07:56] then Harry finds out that Peter's Spider-Man and like all that motivation there turning
[00:07:56 - 00:08:01] him into whatever like green goblin junior what's a is there a name for it?
[00:08:01 - 00:08:04] For Harry is which one?
[00:08:04 - 00:08:06] Ramey 1 or Ramey 3?
[00:08:06 - 00:08:07] Anyway.
[00:08:07 - 00:08:08] James Franco.
[00:08:09 - 00:08:12] Is there a name for is he just the green goblin again or is he there a different super villain
[00:08:12 - 00:08:13] name for it?
[00:08:13 - 00:08:14] There probably is.
[00:08:14 - 00:08:15] I think it's just cool.
[00:08:15 - 00:08:16] I don't know.
[00:08:16 - 00:08:17] I'm sorry.
[00:08:17 - 00:08:21] I haven't read many comics but like I think that progression in there is better than this
[00:08:21 - 00:08:26] he's just like I don't want to die and then Spider-Man didn't give me his blood and
[00:08:26 - 00:08:27] so now I'm mad.
[00:08:27 - 00:08:33] Okay but okay hear this is it a crazy enough leap to say he had a slight negative
[00:08:33 - 00:08:41] connotation toward Spider-Man when he was fully cognizant and then he goes insane that
[00:08:41 - 00:08:46] like makes that worse in like it yeah he goes insane it elevates all this negative tendencies
[00:08:46 - 00:08:48] and he hates Spider-Man.
[00:08:48 - 00:08:52] No okay I don't think that's crazy I still think like one I just think the performance
[00:08:52 - 00:08:57] is really bad like I just he's really tough to watch on screen his haircut is crazy
[00:08:57 - 00:09:02] haircut is crazy what is that haircut what's Felicity Jones doing in this movie also crazy
[00:09:02 - 00:09:03] what is she doing in this movie.
[00:09:03 - 00:09:07] Because they're trying to set a black cat and then the universe got canceled.
[00:09:07 - 00:09:14] Yeah whatever but then okay here's the thing that like really I think is dumb is that like
[00:09:14 - 00:09:18] the jumps that we take from him like taking this year and then he hops in this suit and
[00:09:18 - 00:09:24] the suit's like oh healing mode I'm like yeah why do we not like I don't know I just feels
[00:09:24 - 00:09:30] like so undercooked but my take is that it should have been spread out over two
[00:09:30 - 00:09:31] or three movies.
[00:09:31 - 00:09:32] I agree.
[00:09:32 - 00:09:35] I don't think I think if we give him more room to breathe it would have been okay but
[00:09:35 - 00:09:40] he feels super shoehorned in here and you also have Electro as his own villain.
[00:09:40 - 00:09:41] Yep.
[00:09:41 - 00:09:46] So yeah I completely agree that I think I agree with everything you said I just don't
[00:09:46 - 00:09:52] think again what makes these movies for me is Garfield and Sonos Chemistry.
[00:09:52 - 00:09:53] Yes.
[00:09:53 - 00:09:56] And the Epic Spider-Man swinging moments.
[00:09:56 - 00:09:57] Yep.
[00:09:57 - 00:10:01] And I mean really Andrew Garfield's performance in his charisma carries me.
[00:10:01 - 00:10:05] Carries 87% of this movie.
[00:10:05 - 00:10:10] How we get to certain plot points with the villains like I don't think is good obviously but I'm
[00:10:10 - 00:10:13] not like that ruins the experience for me.
[00:10:13 - 00:10:19] I agree that James DeHaan's arc is way rushed.
[00:10:19 - 00:10:20] Yeah.
[00:10:20 - 00:10:22] And he shouldn't have been the Green Goblin here.
[00:10:22 - 00:10:26] He should have definitely waited one or two movies.
[00:10:26 - 00:10:27] Yeah.
[00:10:27 - 00:10:30] And Electro just is kind of a terrible villain.
[00:10:30 - 00:10:33] It's not that I dislike Jamie Foxx or like.
[00:10:33 - 00:10:34] No.
[00:10:34 - 00:10:39] I think they could have gone more like the confused villain route and they started to at the
[00:10:39 - 00:10:43] beginning of this movie like he's not trying to be a villain like he just kind of ends
[00:10:43 - 00:10:48] up in a bad situation but then at certain point he's just like I want people to see
[00:10:48 - 00:10:49] me for who I am.
[00:10:49 - 00:10:50] I want people to see me.
[00:10:50 - 00:10:56] And I'm blue and I'm gonna blow stuff up and it just like devolves a little bit.
[00:10:56 - 00:10:58] His motivation is super weak.
[00:10:58 - 00:11:00] The T-thusion is really bad.
[00:11:00 - 00:11:03] Yeah but that's just a little thing.
[00:11:03 - 00:11:04] It's a little stupid thing.
[00:11:04 - 00:11:05] It is stupid.
[00:11:05 - 00:11:08] I remember that more than I remember other stuff from this movie.
[00:11:08 - 00:11:11] Like before I rewatched this I was like I remember the T-thusion and I did not remember
[00:11:11 - 00:11:14] half of basically the rest of this movie.
[00:11:14 - 00:11:15] Yeah.
[00:11:15 - 00:11:19] Anyway I didn't remember any of the stuff from Peter's parents until I rewatched this.
[00:11:19 - 00:11:20] Okay.
[00:11:20 - 00:11:22] I think that whole arc is stupid.
[00:11:22 - 00:11:24] That is the other bad part of this movie.
[00:11:24 - 00:11:27] I agree.
[00:11:27 - 00:11:30] I have a take that I'm realizing you're gonna think is absolutely atrocious but I'll wait
[00:11:30 - 00:11:32] until the end of this episode.
[00:11:32 - 00:11:33] Really?
[00:11:33 - 00:11:34] Yeah.
[00:11:34 - 00:11:35] Whatever.
[00:11:35 - 00:11:37] Now I'm like waiting but okay.
[00:11:37 - 00:11:39] I will give you an anticipation.
[00:11:39 - 00:11:40] That's fine.
[00:11:40 - 00:11:43] Peter's this whole arc is stupid because it results in nothing.
[00:11:43 - 00:11:44] Yeah it did.
[00:11:44 - 00:11:46] Yeah it's dumb.
[00:11:46 - 00:11:51] And at the end of one or like I think a lot of what one did is like it set up
[00:11:51 - 00:11:55] that Peter Parker was this traumatized teenager because his parents left him and they died
[00:11:55 - 00:11:57] in this mysterious plane crash.
[00:11:57 - 00:11:58] That's fine.
[00:11:58 - 00:11:59] He can be traumatized.
[00:11:59 - 00:12:00] I like that.
[00:12:00 - 00:12:01] I said that in yesterday's episode.
[00:12:01 - 00:12:06] But then at the end of the episode well and it kind of it I don't know a third of the
[00:12:06 - 00:12:10] way in the movie he calls Uncle Ben dad and they have them over like you're a great
[00:12:10 - 00:12:11] dad.
[00:12:11 - 00:12:14] I'm sorry I keep comparing y'all to what could have been like that's that was wrong
[00:12:14 - 00:12:17] of Peter to do and they say that in the movie and then at the end of the movie
[00:12:17 - 00:12:21] he listens to Uncle Ben's voicemail and you're like okay like he is coming to
[00:12:21 - 00:12:26] turn with the fact that Ben's dead and that Ben was his dad and like they have this moment
[00:12:26 - 00:12:30] of like establishing that we're moving on.
[00:12:30 - 00:12:31] Past the mystery.
[00:12:31 - 00:12:36] We're moving on from this and then beginning of two we have this stupid plane fight that
[00:12:36 - 00:12:37] I hate with everything in me.
[00:12:37 - 00:12:38] It's really dumb.
[00:12:38 - 00:12:43] And then we like and Aunt May kind of get sidelined in this movie of like you're
[00:12:43 - 00:12:47] not my mom or like that's kind of the vibe.
[00:12:47 - 00:12:51] And then they have this other turnaround of like Peter's like I would never compare
[00:12:51 - 00:12:57] you to anything while actively comparing her to his parents the entire movie.
[00:12:57 - 00:13:02] Yeah I think like the mystery is just mishandled ultimately like the fact that I
[00:13:02 - 00:13:05] probably even right now sitting here couldn't even really tell you why it was
[00:13:05 - 00:13:07] a mystery in the first place.
[00:13:07 - 00:13:11] And like I mean because like what they worked on the Oscorp serum right like
[00:13:11 - 00:13:13] that like that's the whole thing.
[00:13:13 - 00:13:14] It's stupid.
[00:13:14 - 00:13:19] The end point of it is like Peter's dad wasn't a bad guy and that that gives
[00:13:19 - 00:13:24] Peter some resolve but I'm like we as an audience do not care about Peter Parker's
[00:13:24 - 00:13:25] parents in the slightest.
[00:13:25 - 00:13:26] No.
[00:13:26 - 00:13:29] Look yeah there's just no reason to it's it is very stupid.
[00:13:29 - 00:13:31] The amount of time that's wasted on that is it's insane.
[00:13:31 - 00:13:35] Yeah and like I think that it could have been done well like I want people
[00:13:35 - 00:13:40] to hear that I don't hate that they give a mystery to what could have
[00:13:40 - 00:13:46] been maybe a trilogy of good movies right now a lot of what we have with amazing
[00:13:46 - 00:13:49] Spider-Man's like what could have been but like I think if you'd spread out a
[00:13:49 - 00:13:52] mystery over three movies and it's like actually really important it could
[00:13:52 - 00:13:59] have been sick it just wasn't yeah and so yeah I don't know so that's the
[00:13:59 - 00:14:01] other bad part of this movie in my opinion.
[00:14:01 - 00:14:03] Yeah I mean I agree with you.
[00:14:03 - 00:14:06] I think this movie stumbles a little bit with dialogue.
[00:14:06 - 00:14:09] Oh I don't know if I agree with you there.
[00:14:09 - 00:14:12] I feel like some of the quips are off maybe this is just like really nitpicky
[00:14:12 - 00:14:17] but it's just like Spider-Man doesn't feel like it's funny or like maybe he
[00:14:17 - 00:14:22] okay wait let me let me back up we talked about on Spider-Man the amazing
[00:14:22 - 00:14:23] Spider-Man 1 episode.
[00:14:23 - 00:14:24] Yeah.
[00:14:24 - 00:14:28] It's like this is a grittier ish take on Spider-Man and it worked for that
[00:14:28 - 00:14:29] movie.
[00:14:29 - 00:14:32] I think this movie gets a little bit more into the camp of Spider-Man
[00:14:32 - 00:14:37] and it just doesn't sit right with these two movies I feel like these
[00:14:37 - 00:14:44] they do feel different I will say that I like the I think wait so are you saying
[00:14:44 - 00:14:46] this is not as funny or it is funnier.
[00:14:46 - 00:14:50] I'm saying this one is funnier or like trying to it's trying to be funnier
[00:14:50 - 00:14:55] like they put Peter or they put Spider-Man and like the Fireman.
[00:14:55 - 00:14:56] I love that scene.
[00:14:56 - 00:14:59] I think I love it no no I do love it I think it's funny but then I'm
[00:14:59 - 00:15:02] like if I think about it if this was to be the grittier Spider-Man
[00:15:02 - 00:15:05] it just feels like a switch up from one.
[00:15:05 - 00:15:08] Well I don't know if this one is supposed to be gritty Spider-Man.
[00:15:08 - 00:15:11] But that's the thing it's like the amazing Spider-Man 1 was supposed to be
[00:15:11 - 00:15:12] great.
[00:15:12 - 00:15:15] Okay I agree I like I think the there was a continuity error here or like a vibe
[00:15:15 - 00:15:16] error.
[00:15:16 - 00:15:19] It's just like we get a little bit to the camp of your stuff and maybe it
[00:15:19 - 00:15:22] works within this movie but I just don't like this switch up personally.
[00:15:22 - 00:15:23] Maybe it's a personal.
[00:15:23 - 00:15:24] I think I do.
[00:15:24 - 00:15:25] Okay.
[00:15:25 - 00:15:26] It's pretty nitpicky.
[00:15:26 - 00:15:27] But.
[00:15:27 - 00:15:28] I'll admit.
[00:15:28 - 00:15:29] Yeah.
[00:15:29 - 00:15:30] Okay should we get to my take.
[00:15:30 - 00:15:32] Yeah get to your take I'm ready for it.
[00:15:32 - 00:15:34] You're gonna laugh me off this podcast.
[00:15:34 - 00:15:35] My take is this.
[00:15:35 - 00:15:36] Okay.
[00:15:36 - 00:15:39] While I would agree that this plot is pretty bad.
[00:15:39 - 00:15:41] We're saying like the overall movie plot.
[00:15:41 - 00:15:42] Yeah.
[00:15:42 - 00:15:43] Okay.
[00:15:43 - 00:15:44] Sure.
[00:15:44 - 00:15:47] I think the character moments are still phenomenal and I think Peter's arc
[00:15:47 - 00:15:48] is still phenomenal.
[00:15:48 - 00:15:51] Wait so my character moments we're narrowing it down to Peter and Gwen.
[00:15:51 - 00:15:52] Right.
[00:15:52 - 00:15:53] Sure.
[00:15:53 - 00:15:55] The two characters that I really care about have great moments.
[00:15:55 - 00:15:57] Okay yeah I would agree with that.
[00:15:57 - 00:16:02] So therefore this is an above positive experience for me because
[00:16:02 - 00:16:05] everything I care about excels.
[00:16:05 - 00:16:09] Even if the plot kind of like it's it's clunky to get there.
[00:16:09 - 00:16:10] Really clunky.
[00:16:10 - 00:16:12] But everything is great.
[00:16:12 - 00:16:14] No okay I'm gonna just say it up straight.
[00:16:14 - 00:16:17] Say it straight up that this movie is over hated.
[00:16:17 - 00:16:18] I agree.
[00:16:18 - 00:16:19] It is not good.
[00:16:19 - 00:16:23] Like in comparison to maybe other spider movies maybe it's a positive experience.
[00:16:23 - 00:16:24] Maybe I'll give it three stars.
[00:16:24 - 00:16:25] Okay.
[00:16:25 - 00:16:26] I'm gonna think on it.
[00:16:26 - 00:16:27] I gave it three and a half.
[00:16:27 - 00:16:31] I think it is a there's a very good movie in here that was dragged down by a lot
[00:16:31 - 00:16:35] of things and probably honestly by Sony and just poor management again.
[00:16:35 - 00:16:41] But like I think the villain is the villains are the issue here.
[00:16:41 - 00:16:45] If that had been resolved it honestly could be a very good movie.
[00:16:45 - 00:16:46] So I think I'll agree.
[00:16:46 - 00:16:47] I agree.
[00:16:47 - 00:16:48] I'm not gonna laugh you off the podcast.
[00:16:48 - 00:16:49] Okay.
[00:16:49 - 00:16:50] That's fair.
[00:16:50 - 00:16:51] Yeah.
[00:16:51 - 00:16:52] Um.
[00:16:52 - 00:16:54] I don't know anything else to go out to you about this movie that we want to
[00:16:54 - 00:16:55] talk about.
[00:16:55 - 00:16:57] Should we get into Gwen's death more just be like and she died.
[00:16:57 - 00:16:58] Let's do it.
[00:16:58 - 00:17:01] And we're not going to talk about No Way Home yet.
[00:17:01 - 00:17:02] Yeah.
[00:17:02 - 00:17:03] Okay.
[00:17:03 - 00:17:07] Because I think there's some someone out there who hasn't seen No Way Home but has seen
[00:17:07 - 00:17:08] Tasman.
[00:17:08 - 00:17:11] Well also there's some attempted resolution in there that we'll talk about at some point.
[00:17:11 - 00:17:12] Do you not like it?
[00:17:12 - 00:17:13] No I like it.
[00:17:13 - 00:17:14] Okay.
[00:17:14 - 00:17:17] But like we got to talk about in the context of Spider-Man as well.
[00:17:17 - 00:17:18] Um.
[00:17:18 - 00:17:19] Okay.
[00:17:19 - 00:17:20] Gwen's death.
[00:17:20 - 00:17:22] Or even like her arc of going to Europe.
[00:17:22 - 00:17:26] I don't hate it like I mean doesn't make sense that she'd be still applying
[00:17:26 - 00:17:29] for college that summer after not really but like whatever.
[00:17:29 - 00:17:32] That's just not how college works nowadays but maybe Oxford's weird.
[00:17:32 - 00:17:33] I don't know.
[00:17:33 - 00:17:37] No I like that she's like I'm going to go to Oxford because I want to.
[00:17:37 - 00:17:38] Yeah.
[00:17:38 - 00:17:44] And like honestly the going to college thing that's a very normal thing and also like
[00:17:44 - 00:17:46] once she's wicked smart but too like her dad did die.
[00:17:46 - 00:17:48] Like she probably wants to get away a little bit.
[00:17:48 - 00:17:49] Yeah I would.
[00:17:49 - 00:17:53] So I don't think it's crazy that she wants to go to England and that she's like
[00:17:53 - 00:17:56] kind of trying to break up with Peter because she knows it's best for her and
[00:17:56 - 00:17:57] for him.
[00:17:57 - 00:18:03] I again the brilliant part of this movie that might be strong.
[00:18:03 - 00:18:05] Brilliant is a reach but we'll rock it.
[00:18:05 - 00:18:10] The good part about this movie is their attention and the fact is like at the
[00:18:10 - 00:18:14] beginning of the movie when Gwen breaks up and she maybe she says that
[00:18:14 - 00:18:15] but she's like it's for me not for you.
[00:18:15 - 00:18:16] I think it's so valid.
[00:18:16 - 00:18:17] Yeah.
[00:18:17 - 00:18:18] And healthy.
[00:18:18 - 00:18:19] Yes.
[00:18:19 - 00:18:20] Um.
[00:18:20 - 00:18:21] Also like.
[00:18:21 - 00:18:22] Sorry.
[00:18:22 - 00:18:27] I was going to say I think I kind of had forgotten that Peter wrestles a lot with
[00:18:27 - 00:18:28] this.
[00:18:28 - 00:18:29] Yeah.
[00:18:29 - 00:18:31] Like I kind of thought he would just be like oh like whatever.
[00:18:31 - 00:18:35] Like I'm still going to date when no he like says like hey I can't do this
[00:18:35 - 00:18:36] multiple times as well.
[00:18:36 - 00:18:38] Like he makes it tough on Gwen.
[00:18:38 - 00:18:40] Which I think is like it's so real.
[00:18:40 - 00:18:41] That's very real.
[00:18:41 - 00:18:42] Yeah.
[00:18:42 - 00:18:44] Like he knows he wants to do the right thing but he also loves Gwen.
[00:18:44 - 00:18:45] Um.
[00:18:45 - 00:18:47] So I think that tension is so strong.
[00:18:47 - 00:18:48] Yeah.
[00:18:48 - 00:18:49] I agree.
[00:18:49 - 00:18:55] And I think ultimately I mean I love that Gwen has agency rocking up to the
[00:18:55 - 00:18:57] electric arc or whatever.
[00:18:57 - 00:18:58] I mean okay.
[00:18:58 - 00:19:03] The scene where he's like shut the car and then webs her hand to the.
[00:19:03 - 00:19:07] And then she yells Peter which reportedly is like a mistake that she
[00:19:07 - 00:19:08] made that they liked so much.
[00:19:08 - 00:19:10] I think it's just it's so good.
[00:19:10 - 00:19:11] Yeah.
[00:19:11 - 00:19:12] That's a great moment there.
[00:19:12 - 00:19:13] Um.
[00:19:13 - 00:19:16] But then she gets out of that and she comes and has agency.
[00:19:16 - 00:19:17] I think that's great.
[00:19:17 - 00:19:18] Yeah.
[00:19:18 - 00:19:22] I've said it before and there again we're getting more hot takes by the if
[00:19:22 - 00:19:24] you have a spider man hot take cinnamon cinnamon.
[00:19:24 - 00:19:26] We're doing episode at the end of this.
[00:19:26 - 00:19:30] But I've seen a bunch of like Kiersten Dunst is overhated or is it is
[00:19:30 - 00:19:31] properly hated.
[00:19:31 - 00:19:33] I really don't think she is but we'll get there.
[00:19:33 - 00:19:37] I like that both of these female spider man partners.
[00:19:37 - 00:19:39] They are not just like damsels in distress.
[00:19:39 - 00:19:40] Have agency.
[00:19:40 - 00:19:41] Yes.
[00:19:41 - 00:19:46] And the fact that obviously Peter Parker is going to blame himself for
[00:19:46 - 00:19:47] it.
[00:19:47 - 00:19:51] Gwen Zeth is mostly on her because she rocked up to.
[00:19:51 - 00:19:52] Yeah.
[00:19:52 - 00:19:53] I mean Peter tried to say like no.
[00:19:53 - 00:19:56] You're not going to come and then Gwen comes.
[00:19:56 - 00:20:01] But it's again that teaching moment for Peter of like it's kind of a
[00:20:01 - 00:20:04] reiteration of with great power comes great responsibility and that
[00:20:04 - 00:20:07] responsibility is to not put your loved ones in danger.
[00:20:07 - 00:20:08] Yeah.
[00:20:08 - 00:20:11] Like I think the point of this movie would have been ruined if at
[00:20:11 - 00:20:13] the end of it Peter had told Aunt May that he was spider man
[00:20:13 - 00:20:15] right which obviously didn't happen and wasn't going to happen.
[00:20:15 - 00:20:19] But like imagine if that did this movie would not have a point
[00:20:19 - 00:20:20] anymore.
[00:20:20 - 00:20:22] But like it really drives on that point of yeah with great
[00:20:22 - 00:20:25] power comes great responsibility and yeah loved ones can die
[00:20:25 - 00:20:27] because of you being spider man.
[00:20:27 - 00:20:28] Right.
[00:20:28 - 00:20:29] So you have to be careful.
[00:20:29 - 00:20:31] That's a good lesson for him to learn.
[00:20:31 - 00:20:32] Great lesson.
[00:20:32 - 00:20:33] Horrible way to learn it.
[00:20:33 - 00:20:34] Horrible way to learn.
[00:20:34 - 00:20:37] And like the cinematography everything about that scene.
[00:20:37 - 00:20:38] Gosh when she hits the floor.
[00:20:38 - 00:20:39] I love.
[00:20:39 - 00:20:41] I watch this with Polly.
[00:20:41 - 00:20:43] I feel like I say this every other movie.
[00:20:43 - 00:20:45] But she'd seen these movies before.
[00:20:45 - 00:20:48] She likes these ones a lot and she was just crying.
[00:20:48 - 00:20:49] It's so sad.
[00:20:49 - 00:20:51] I was like are you going to cry.
[00:20:51 - 00:20:52] She's like no.
[00:20:52 - 00:20:53] I looked over she was weeping.
[00:20:53 - 00:20:56] I mean Andrew performed when she's holding her like it's
[00:20:56 - 00:20:57] so good.
[00:20:57 - 00:21:00] And I think like yes this movie has a lot of bad but this
[00:21:00 - 00:21:02] movie has so much more character than some of the
[00:21:02 - 00:21:04] recent superhero cinema in my opinion.
[00:21:04 - 00:21:09] Like I did not like Fantastic Four the first steps that
[00:21:09 - 00:21:10] much.
[00:21:10 - 00:21:11] I thought it was fine.
[00:21:11 - 00:21:12] I thought it was good.
[00:21:12 - 00:21:15] But like compared to Fantastic Four the amazing
[00:21:15 - 00:21:18] Spider-Man 2 has so much more life and character and
[00:21:18 - 00:21:21] even if it's dragged down by some clunky story lines
[00:21:21 - 00:21:23] and bad villains and bad writing.
[00:21:23 - 00:21:24] And I think that's kind of where I am.
[00:21:24 - 00:21:27] I'm like I love this movie for its character for
[00:21:27 - 00:21:29] the performances for the cinematography.
[00:21:29 - 00:21:30] Yes.
[00:21:30 - 00:21:33] I at a certain point watching as many superhero
[00:21:33 - 00:21:36] movies as we have it's like the plots are all
[00:21:36 - 00:21:38] kind of the same to some degree.
[00:21:38 - 00:21:40] There are some differences out there.
[00:21:40 - 00:21:44] But villain rises up fights hero.
[00:21:44 - 00:21:47] Hero 98 percent of the time wins.
[00:21:47 - 00:21:49] There are no consequences for their for action.
[00:21:49 - 00:21:50] No this is different.
[00:21:50 - 00:21:51] This is different.
[00:21:51 - 00:21:52] Yeah.
[00:21:52 - 00:21:55] So when those kind of parts there aren't as
[00:21:55 - 00:21:57] shiny as the others when you have an an
[00:21:57 - 00:22:00] electro or a Green Goblin who's terrible.
[00:22:00 - 00:22:01] Yeah.
[00:22:01 - 00:22:02] Horrible.
[00:22:02 - 00:22:03] Like I don't really care.
[00:22:03 - 00:22:05] I'm looking for the characters to shine and
[00:22:05 - 00:22:06] I think they do here.
[00:22:06 - 00:22:08] The cinematography here is awesome and I think
[00:22:08 - 00:22:09] the performances are great.
[00:22:09 - 00:22:11] This movie would have been a lot better had
[00:22:11 - 00:22:13] Harry been completely cut from this movie
[00:22:13 - 00:22:15] and 30 minutes been shaved off.
[00:22:15 - 00:22:16] Yeah.
[00:22:16 - 00:22:18] This would probably be heralded as a
[00:22:18 - 00:22:20] pretty solid Spider-Man movie minus
[00:22:20 - 00:22:21] electro.
[00:22:21 - 00:22:24] So like yes this movie have issues for
[00:22:24 - 00:22:25] sure.
[00:22:25 - 00:22:26] But it's also pretty good.
[00:22:26 - 00:22:27] And again visually it's great.
[00:22:27 - 00:22:28] Like there's some really great stuff in
[00:22:28 - 00:22:29] here.
[00:22:29 - 00:22:31] So are you ready for Spider-Man raking.
[00:22:31 - 00:22:32] I am ready.
[00:22:32 - 00:22:33] Okay.
[00:22:33 - 00:22:34] Can you off the dome.
[00:22:34 - 00:22:35] I have it written down.
[00:22:35 - 00:22:36] I'm glad you have it written down because
[00:22:36 - 00:22:37] I did realize like this is going to
[00:22:37 - 00:22:38] keep up with.
[00:22:38 - 00:22:39] I'll just go ahead and read off.
[00:22:39 - 00:22:41] At number one in our Spider-Man raking
[00:22:41 - 00:22:42] we have Spider-Man 2.
[00:22:42 - 00:22:43] Yep.
[00:22:43 - 00:22:44] Shocker.
[00:22:44 - 00:22:47] At number two we have Spider-Man 1.
[00:22:47 - 00:22:48] Ramey.
[00:22:48 - 00:22:49] At number three we have the amazing
[00:22:49 - 00:22:50] Spider-Man 1.
[00:22:50 - 00:22:52] At number four we have Spider-Man 3.
[00:22:52 - 00:22:54] Amazing Spider-Man 2 is better than
[00:22:54 - 00:22:55] Spider-Man 3.
[00:22:55 - 00:22:56] 100%.
[00:22:56 - 00:22:57] Amazing Spider-Man 2 is better than
[00:22:57 - 00:22:58] the amazing Spider-Man.
[00:22:58 - 00:22:59] I'm going to say no.
[00:22:59 - 00:23:00] I'm also going to say no.
[00:23:00 - 00:23:01] Yeah.
[00:23:01 - 00:23:02] I'm okay with this being in the
[00:23:02 - 00:23:03] floor slot.
[00:23:03 - 00:23:04] And this will probably end up being
[00:23:04 - 00:23:06] at the bottom-ish maybe I don't
[00:23:06 - 00:23:08] know of our Spider-Man raking.
[00:23:08 - 00:23:10] But it's not like that bad.
[00:23:10 - 00:23:11] No.
[00:23:11 - 00:23:13] I think a lot of this is a guilty
[00:23:13 - 00:23:14] pleasure movie.
[00:23:14 - 00:23:17] But like I love this movie
[00:23:17 - 00:23:18] specifically.
[00:23:18 - 00:23:19] I think it was great.
[00:23:19 - 00:23:20] Yeah.
[00:23:20 - 00:23:21] I would agree.
[00:23:21 - 00:23:22] I think time might be kinder to
[00:23:22 - 00:23:23] this movie than people realize.
[00:23:23 - 00:23:24] I know.
[00:23:24 - 00:23:25] If you are a hater I think you
[00:23:25 - 00:23:27] should rewatch it if you haven't
[00:23:27 - 00:23:28] seen it a while.
[00:23:28 - 00:23:29] If you saw it two days ago and
[00:23:29 - 00:23:30] you're like I'm still a hater.
[00:23:30 - 00:23:31] That's fine.
[00:23:31 - 00:23:32] That's fine.
[00:23:32 - 00:23:33] But like I think that the
[00:23:33 - 00:23:34] character that this movie has
[00:23:34 - 00:23:36] and like actual good character
[00:23:36 - 00:23:37] moments between Peter and Gwen
[00:23:37 - 00:23:38] like that kind of makes the
[00:23:38 - 00:23:39] movie good.
[00:23:39 - 00:23:40] Yeah.
[00:23:40 - 00:23:41] You got a little ant there.
[00:23:41 - 00:23:42] And back here.
[00:23:42 - 00:23:43] Okay.
[00:23:43 - 00:23:44] Name him Peter.
[00:23:44 - 00:23:45] Peter.
[00:23:45 - 00:23:46] Peter the aunt.
[00:23:46 - 00:23:47] I'm going to name him Gwen
[00:23:47 - 00:23:48] or her Gwen.
[00:23:48 - 00:23:49] Get out of here.
[00:23:49 - 00:23:50] I'm just kidding.
[00:23:50 - 00:23:51] Okay.
[00:23:51 - 00:23:52] That's so crazy.
[00:23:52 - 00:23:53] We need to get back on track
[00:23:53 - 00:23:54] and do our store my line
[00:23:54 - 00:23:55] ranking anyway.
[00:23:55 - 00:23:56] Yes we do.
[00:23:56 - 00:23:57] We have our ranking system
[00:23:57 - 00:23:58] if you're new to the
[00:23:58 - 00:23:59] channel.
[00:23:59 - 00:24:00] First off thank you for being
[00:24:00 - 00:24:01] here.
[00:24:01 - 00:24:02] For sure.
[00:24:02 - 00:24:03] Consider subscribing if you're
[00:24:03 - 00:24:04] new to the channel.
[00:24:04 - 00:24:05] Okay.
[00:24:05 - 00:24:06] All right.
[00:24:06 - 00:24:07] Why?
[00:24:07 - 00:24:08] Yeah.
[00:24:08 - 00:24:09] Why would you do that?
[00:24:09 - 00:24:10] We have our rankings to appear.
[00:24:10 - 00:24:11] Our highest here is by on
[00:24:11 - 00:24:12] Blu-ray.
[00:24:12 - 00:24:13] The bee resurrected.
[00:24:13 - 00:24:14] Oh no way.
[00:24:14 - 00:24:15] There was a bee that flew
[00:24:15 - 00:24:16] into the fire before we
[00:24:16 - 00:24:17] filmed and then just flew
[00:24:17 - 00:24:18] out.
[00:24:18 - 00:24:19] That's crazy.
[00:24:19 - 00:24:20] Wow.
[00:24:20 - 00:24:21] It's like Spiderman at the
[00:24:21 - 00:24:22] end of the movie when he
[00:24:22 - 00:24:23] comes back.
[00:24:23 - 00:24:24] Okay.
[00:24:24 - 00:24:25] Wait.
[00:24:25 - 00:24:26] Really quick.
[00:24:26 - 00:24:27] That moment with.
[00:24:27 - 00:24:28] Wow.
[00:24:28 - 00:24:29] Holy side track.
[00:24:29 - 00:24:30] Oh yeah.
[00:24:30 - 00:24:31] We got to talk about this.
[00:24:31 - 00:24:32] The end moment where the
[00:24:32 - 00:24:33] bee was like,
[00:24:33 - 00:24:34] Frick the haters man.
[00:24:34 - 00:24:35] When he says it,
[00:24:35 - 00:24:36] I'll go right back.
[00:24:36 - 00:24:37] No he says thank you Spiderman.
[00:24:37 - 00:24:38] You go take care of your
[00:24:38 - 00:24:39] mom.
[00:24:39 - 00:24:40] I'll take it from here or
[00:24:40 - 00:24:41] whatever.
[00:24:41 - 00:24:42] There's so many things.
[00:24:42 - 00:24:43] A, the fact that like this is
[00:24:43 - 00:24:44] the essence of Spiderman.
[00:24:44 - 00:24:45] I think this in
[00:24:45 - 00:24:46] Casley is why people care
[00:24:46 - 00:24:47] so much.
[00:24:47 - 00:24:48] That kid was inspired
[00:24:48 - 00:24:49] obviously because he met
[00:24:49 - 00:24:50] him way back when.
[00:24:50 - 00:24:51] And was so brave.
[00:24:51 - 00:24:53] I was like a seven year old
[00:24:53 - 00:24:55] to fricking get out from
[00:24:55 - 00:24:56] the barricade.
[00:24:56 - 00:24:57] He kind of saves people.
[00:24:57 - 00:24:58] He stops the flow.
[00:24:58 - 00:24:59] Yeah.
[00:24:59 - 00:25:00] It's cool.
[00:25:00 - 00:25:01] Steps out in front of Rhino
[00:25:01 - 00:25:02] is awesome.
[00:25:02 - 00:25:03] Yeah.
[00:25:03 - 00:25:04] It's great.
[00:25:04 - 00:25:05] And then he, I mean,
[00:25:05 - 00:25:06] when Andrew Garfield comes back
[00:25:06 - 00:25:07] it's sick.
[00:25:07 - 00:25:08] Great moment.
[00:25:08 - 00:25:09] So good.
[00:25:09 - 00:25:10] Rhino is dumb.
[00:25:10 - 00:25:11] It's stupid.
[00:25:11 - 00:25:12] Great moment.
[00:25:12 - 00:25:13] Back to our rating.
[00:25:13 - 00:25:14] I'm so sorry about that.
[00:25:14 - 00:25:15] But we had to talk about that.
[00:25:15 - 00:25:16] Yeah.
[00:25:16 - 00:25:17] We have Bio and Blu-ray
[00:25:17 - 00:25:18] as our highest tier.
[00:25:18 - 00:25:19] We have watching movie
[00:25:19 - 00:25:20] theater as our second highest
[00:25:20 - 00:25:21] tier.
[00:25:21 - 00:25:22] We've watched on streaming
[00:25:22 - 00:25:23] middle of the road.
[00:25:23 - 00:25:24] Kind of any bike
[00:25:24 - 00:25:25] watching on streaming.
[00:25:25 - 00:25:26] We have watched for free
[00:25:26 - 00:25:27] on streaming.
[00:25:27 - 00:25:28] So like,
[00:25:28 - 00:25:29] if you have to be or
[00:25:29 - 00:25:30] are logged into your
[00:25:30 - 00:25:31] boss.
[00:25:31 - 00:25:32] I think on paper
[00:25:32 - 00:25:33] you look at the
[00:25:33 - 00:25:34] amazing Spider-Man 2
[00:25:34 - 00:25:35] and you're like,
[00:25:35 - 00:25:36] oh, that's probably going to
[00:25:36 - 00:25:37] slot into the watch for free
[00:25:37 - 00:25:38] on streaming.
[00:25:38 - 00:25:39] But I don't feel like that.
[00:25:39 - 00:25:40] I also don't feel.
[00:25:40 - 00:25:41] I feel.
[00:25:41 - 00:25:42] Oh, you're about to be bold.
[00:25:42 - 00:25:43] You're about to be bold.
[00:25:43 - 00:25:44] I'm not going to be that bold.
[00:25:44 - 00:25:45] I'm going to be bold.
[00:25:45 - 00:25:46] All right.
[00:25:46 - 00:25:47] You say your bold comment
[00:25:47 - 00:25:48] and I will say it.
[00:25:48 - 00:25:49] You're going to see this
[00:25:49 - 00:25:50] movie in a theater.
[00:25:50 - 00:25:51] I think that
[00:25:51 - 00:25:52] you should watch this
[00:25:52 - 00:25:53] movie on streaming.
[00:25:53 - 00:25:54] I would say the best part
[00:25:54 - 00:25:55] of this movie is the
[00:25:55 - 00:25:56] visuals.
[00:25:56 - 00:25:57] Okay.
[00:25:57 - 00:25:58] And the sound
[00:25:58 - 00:25:59] and the spectacle.
[00:25:59 - 00:26:00] One of the best parts.
[00:26:00 - 00:26:01] Man,
[00:26:01 - 00:26:02] I have a vivid memory
[00:26:02 - 00:26:03] of being at school.
[00:26:03 - 00:26:04] Yeah.
[00:26:04 - 00:26:05] And some girl
[00:26:05 - 00:26:06] in the grade above me
[00:26:06 - 00:26:07] was like,
[00:26:07 - 00:26:08] talking to a teacher.
[00:26:08 - 00:26:09] I was like,
[00:26:09 - 00:26:10] have you seen the amazing Spider-Man 2?
[00:26:10 - 00:26:11] And he was like,
[00:26:11 - 00:26:12] no.
[00:26:12 - 00:26:13] Because he was like,
[00:26:13 - 00:26:14] Gwyn dies.
[00:26:14 - 00:26:15] I knew that Gwyn
[00:26:15 - 00:26:16] died in this movie for like forever.
[00:26:16 - 00:26:17] That's crazy.
[00:26:17 - 00:26:18] But like,
[00:26:18 - 00:26:19] yeah,
[00:26:19 - 00:26:20] I think it would be cool to
[00:26:20 - 00:26:21] watch this in theaters
[00:26:21 - 00:26:22] when it came out.
[00:26:22 - 00:26:23] I have a distinct memory
[00:26:23 - 00:26:24] about this too.
[00:26:24 - 00:26:25] Really?
[00:26:25 - 00:26:26] Yes.
[00:26:26 - 00:26:27] Almost in the same situation.
[00:26:27 - 00:26:28] Were we in the same?
[00:26:28 - 00:26:29] Yeah.
[00:26:29 - 00:26:31] It's my aunt and uncle were like,
[00:26:31 - 00:26:33] we were all at a lake somewhere.
[00:26:33 - 00:26:35] And they were talking
[00:26:35 - 00:26:36] about this movie,
[00:26:36 - 00:26:37] how they saw it in theaters.
[00:26:37 - 00:26:38] And my aunt was like,
[00:26:38 - 00:26:40] yeah, the girlfriend dies.
[00:26:40 - 00:26:41] I thought it was so stupid.
[00:26:41 - 00:26:42] And I was like,
[00:26:42 - 00:26:43] six or whatever.
[00:26:43 - 00:26:44] I'm like, oh,
[00:26:44 - 00:26:45] an amazing Spider-Man 2.
[00:26:45 - 00:26:46] Gwyn dies.
[00:26:46 - 00:26:47] You would not have been six.
[00:26:47 - 00:26:48] Whatever.
[00:26:48 - 00:26:49] I don't know.
[00:26:49 - 00:26:50] You've been older than six.
[00:26:50 - 00:26:51] Older than six.
[00:26:51 - 00:26:52] Still though.
[00:26:52 - 00:26:53] But yeah,
[00:26:53 - 00:26:54] I got spoiled too.
[00:26:54 - 00:26:55] Well,
[00:26:55 - 00:26:56] that sucks.
[00:26:56 - 00:26:57] But I do think,
[00:26:57 - 00:26:58] I believe that
[00:26:58 - 00:26:59] I've just conceded
[00:26:59 - 00:27:00] every freaking argument to you
[00:27:00 - 00:27:01] on this series.
[00:27:01 - 00:27:02] I am victorious.
[00:27:02 - 00:27:03] Spider-Man rules.
[00:27:03 - 00:27:04] I think that there's enough here
[00:27:04 - 00:27:05] that like,
[00:27:05 - 00:27:06] it's not the best movie.
[00:27:06 - 00:27:07] There's some bad,
[00:27:07 - 00:27:08] a lot of bad.
[00:27:08 - 00:27:09] But the good moments
[00:27:09 - 00:27:10] that we're seeing
[00:27:10 - 00:27:11] on a big screen
[00:27:11 - 00:27:12] if it ever has a re-release.
[00:27:12 - 00:27:13] And I will say,
[00:27:13 - 00:27:14] I am overlooking
[00:27:14 - 00:27:15] a lot of bad things.
[00:27:15 - 00:27:16] In my appreciation
[00:27:16 - 00:27:17] for this movie.
[00:27:17 - 00:27:18] I don't really care.
[00:27:18 - 00:27:19] But I just,
[00:27:19 - 00:27:20] I love this movie.
[00:27:20 - 00:27:21] We got it.
[00:27:21 - 00:27:22] Like if it's a scale
[00:27:22 - 00:27:23] and there's good and bad,
[00:27:23 - 00:27:24] the scale is tipping
[00:27:24 - 00:27:25] towards good.
[00:27:25 - 00:27:26] It's good.
[00:27:26 - 00:27:27] I'm okay with that.
[00:27:27 - 00:27:28] I feel good about that.
[00:27:28 - 00:27:29] Drew, you're at a party.
[00:27:29 - 00:27:30] I'm at a party.
[00:27:30 - 00:27:31] Oh, yeah, yeah.
[00:27:31 - 00:27:32] Okay.
[00:27:32 - 00:27:33] I'm at a party.
[00:27:33 - 00:27:34] You're at a party.
[00:27:34 - 00:27:35] It's a chill birthday party.
[00:27:35 - 00:27:36] There's not a lot of people
[00:27:36 - 00:27:37] that you know.
[00:27:37 - 00:27:38] There's some food,
[00:27:38 - 00:27:39] some people talking.
[00:27:39 - 00:27:40] And you see
[00:27:40 - 00:27:41] on the screen
[00:27:41 - 00:27:42] in another room
[00:27:42 - 00:27:43] the Amazing Spider-Man 2
[00:27:43 - 00:27:44] playing.
[00:27:44 - 00:27:45] What are you doing?
[00:27:45 - 00:27:46] I'm not talking to a soul.
[00:27:46 - 00:27:47] You're just watching
[00:27:47 - 00:27:48] the Amazing Spider-Man 2
[00:27:48 - 00:27:49] with a lecture
[00:27:49 - 00:27:50] on the Tooth Fusion?
[00:27:50 - 00:27:51] Yeah, I don't care.
[00:27:51 - 00:27:52] Okay.
[00:27:52 - 00:27:53] All right.
[00:27:53 - 00:27:54] That's funny.
[00:27:54 - 00:27:55] I think I'm going to
[00:27:55 - 00:27:56] get some food.
[00:27:56 - 00:27:57] Yeah.
[00:27:57 - 00:27:58] And then sit down
[00:27:58 - 00:27:59] and watch the Amazing Spider-Man 2.
[00:27:59 - 00:28:00] And then talk about,
[00:28:00 - 00:28:01] hey, this movie isn't as bad
[00:28:01 - 00:28:02] as people think it is.
[00:28:02 - 00:28:03] Yeah.
[00:28:03 - 00:28:04] That would be a good
[00:28:04 - 00:28:05] place for a conversation.
[00:28:05 - 00:28:06] Yeah, I agree.
[00:28:06 - 00:28:07] I feel good about that.
[00:28:07 - 00:28:08] I do, too.
[00:28:08 - 00:28:09] Well, what are we
[00:28:09 - 00:28:10] coming up next?
[00:28:10 - 00:28:11] Drew?
[00:28:11 - 00:28:12] So, obviously,
[00:28:12 - 00:28:13] we're in the middle of
[00:28:13 - 00:28:14] the Spider-Man marathon.
[00:28:14 - 00:28:15] Yep.
[00:28:15 - 00:28:16] We are about to drop
[00:28:16 - 00:28:17] Homecoming No Way Home.
[00:28:17 - 00:28:18] Nope.
[00:28:18 - 00:28:19] Homecoming Far From Home
[00:28:19 - 00:28:20] No Way Home.
[00:28:20 - 00:28:21] Yep.
[00:28:21 - 00:28:22] Which might be a little
[00:28:22 - 00:28:23] contentious
[00:28:23 - 00:28:24] because we have differing
[00:28:24 - 00:28:25] ranges.
[00:28:25 - 00:28:26] The rankings might be a little
[00:28:26 - 00:28:27] different than what you
[00:28:27 - 00:28:28] expect.
[00:28:28 - 00:28:29] Just dropped my phone.
[00:28:29 - 00:28:30] That's okay.
[00:28:30 - 00:28:31] It happens.
[00:28:31 - 00:28:32] It does happen.
[00:28:32 - 00:28:33] But yeah, the rankings are
[00:28:33 - 00:28:34] going to be a little bit
[00:28:34 - 00:28:35] contentious.
[00:28:35 - 00:28:36] It'll be an
[00:28:36 - 00:28:37] interesting conversation,
[00:28:37 - 00:28:38] at least.
[00:28:38 - 00:28:39] Yeah, definitely.
[00:28:39 - 00:28:40] Where are we going to rank
[00:28:40 - 00:28:41] these movies on how they are
[00:28:41 - 00:28:42] as a Spider-Man movie
[00:28:42 - 00:28:43] versus how they are
[00:28:43 - 00:28:44] quality of film,
[00:28:44 - 00:28:45] as far from home as bad
[00:28:45 - 00:28:46] as people say?
[00:28:46 - 00:28:47] Who knows?
[00:28:47 - 00:28:48] The answer is yes.
[00:28:48 - 00:28:49] I don't know about that,
[00:28:49 - 00:28:50] but we're going to talk
[00:28:50 - 00:28:51] about it.
[00:28:51 - 00:28:52] If you missed it
[00:28:52 - 00:28:53] because it was kind of
[00:28:53 - 00:28:54] abrupt,
[00:28:54 - 00:28:55] the last airbender?
[00:28:55 - 00:28:56] Avatar ain't the last airbender,
[00:28:56 - 00:28:57] which is a title change.
[00:28:57 - 00:28:58] It used to be
[00:28:58 - 00:28:59] Last Night.
[00:28:59 - 00:29:00] Whatever.
[00:29:00 - 00:29:01] That review is out with
[00:29:01 - 00:29:02] my brother,
[00:29:02 - 00:29:03] which is awesome.
[00:29:03 - 00:29:04] You should go watch it.
[00:29:04 - 00:29:05] If you're into Avatar
[00:29:05 - 00:29:06] or if you're really into
[00:29:06 - 00:29:07] Avatar,
[00:29:07 - 00:29:08] that is the episode for you.
[00:29:08 - 00:29:09] We have House of the Dragon
[00:29:09 - 00:29:10] that we're still doing.
[00:29:10 - 00:29:11] Yep.
[00:29:11 - 00:29:13] We have Lantern soon.
[00:29:13 - 00:29:14] We're also,
[00:29:14 - 00:29:15] this is all over the place
[00:29:15 - 00:29:16] right now,
[00:29:16 - 00:29:17] we're also doing
[00:29:17 - 00:29:18] a no-spoiler brand new
[00:29:18 - 00:29:19] day video
[00:29:19 - 00:29:20] because we're going to
[00:29:20 - 00:29:21] see it a little early.
[00:29:21 - 00:29:22] Yes.
[00:29:22 - 00:29:23] Yeah,
[00:29:23 - 00:29:24] probably Thursday.
[00:29:24 - 00:29:25] Or maybe late Wednesday.
[00:29:25 - 00:29:26] We might drop it late
[00:29:26 - 00:29:27] Wednesday night
[00:29:27 - 00:29:28] because we're going to
[00:29:28 - 00:29:29] go see it Wednesday.
[00:29:29 - 00:29:30] It would be like
[00:29:30 - 00:29:31] really late Wednesday
[00:29:31 - 00:29:32] night.
[00:29:32 - 00:29:33] We might do like
[00:29:33 - 00:29:34] Thursday morning.
[00:29:34 - 00:29:35] It might be Thursday
[00:29:35 - 00:29:36] morning.
[00:29:36 - 00:29:37] Still,
[00:29:37 - 00:29:38] we're going to do that.
[00:29:38 - 00:29:39] So no spoilers
[00:29:39 - 00:29:40] and then we'll have
[00:29:40 - 00:29:41] our big brand new day
[00:29:41 - 00:29:42] video come out
[00:29:42 - 00:29:43] a little later.
[00:29:43 - 00:29:44] Yep.
[00:29:44 - 00:29:45] And then
[00:29:45 - 00:29:46] we've got
[00:29:46 - 00:29:47] Spider-Man Hot Takes
[00:29:47 - 00:29:48] coming up too.
[00:29:48 - 00:29:49] Spider-Man Hot Takes
[00:29:49 - 00:29:50] which is like
[00:29:50 - 00:29:51] comment your Hot Takes.
[00:29:51 - 00:29:52] We have a ton already
[00:29:52 - 00:29:53] but send it in
[00:29:53 - 00:29:54] because we might talk
[00:29:54 - 00:29:55] about it.
[00:29:55 - 00:29:56] We're doing Landres
[00:29:56 - 00:29:57] in August.
[00:29:57 - 00:29:58] There's a bunch of
[00:29:58 - 00:29:59] movies coming out.
[00:29:59 - 00:30:00] A bunch of more
[00:30:00 - 00:30:01] Archie movies is
[00:30:01 - 00:30:02] when we start to get
[00:30:02 - 00:30:03] more into Archie
[00:30:03 - 00:30:04] movie season.
[00:30:04 - 00:30:05] We got Social
[00:30:05 - 00:30:06] Reckoning.
[00:30:06 - 00:30:07] We got
[00:30:07 - 00:30:08] Fjord coming out
[00:30:08 - 00:30:09] at some point.
[00:30:09 - 00:30:10] Oh, I think,
[00:30:10 - 00:30:11] wait,
[00:30:11 - 00:30:12] what's the Samurai one?
[00:30:12 - 00:30:13] The,
[00:30:13 - 00:30:14] oh man,
[00:30:14 - 00:30:15] I'm so sorry.
[00:30:15 - 00:30:16] It's the Samurai
[00:30:16 - 00:30:17] Murder Mystery
[00:30:17 - 00:30:18] Movie.
[00:30:18 - 00:30:19] It's like Super Archie
[00:30:19 - 00:30:20] that's coming out.
[00:30:20 - 00:30:21] Maybe.
[00:30:21 - 00:30:22] It's a launch into the void
[00:30:22 - 00:30:23] but I'm excited
[00:30:23 - 00:30:24] for that movie.
[00:30:24 - 00:30:25] Still,
[00:30:25 - 00:30:26] we got a lot of stuff
[00:30:26 - 00:30:27] coming out.
[00:30:27 - 00:30:28] We'll review kind of
[00:30:28 - 00:30:29] anything that comes out.
[00:30:29 - 00:30:30] We do have another
[00:30:30 - 00:30:31] special guest
[00:30:31 - 00:30:32] on the pod soon.
[00:30:32 - 00:30:33] But we're not
[00:30:33 - 00:30:34] going to say who it is.
[00:30:34 - 00:30:35] Who's it going to be?
[00:30:35 - 00:30:36] It's actually
[00:30:36 - 00:30:37] not one of my family
[00:30:37 - 00:30:38] members or friends.
[00:30:38 - 00:30:39] It's not.
[00:30:39 - 00:30:40] It's one of
[00:30:40 - 00:30:41] my friends.
[00:30:41 - 00:30:42] Drew gets to pick
[00:30:42 - 00:30:43] this time
[00:30:43 - 00:30:44] so it's going to be fun.
[00:30:44 - 00:30:45] You can figure it out.
[00:30:45 - 00:30:46] There's enough evidence
[00:30:46 - 00:30:47] on the internet
[00:30:47 - 00:30:48] to figure it out
[00:30:48 - 00:30:49] if you really want to know.
[00:30:49 - 00:30:50] And you have three guesses
[00:30:50 - 00:30:51] you would guess it.
[00:30:51 - 00:30:52] Yeah.
[00:30:52 - 00:30:53] Yeah.
[00:30:53 - 00:30:54] And then we obviously
[00:30:54 - 00:30:55] do doomsday,
[00:30:55 - 00:30:56] all the things.
[00:30:56 - 00:30:57] If the movie's coming out
[00:30:57 - 00:30:58] and it's at all popular
[00:30:58 - 00:30:59] we're talking about it.
[00:30:59 - 00:31:00] Even if it's not popular
[00:31:00 - 00:31:01] we still might talk about it.
[00:31:01 - 00:31:02] And this is so early
[00:31:02 - 00:31:03] we've not like
[00:31:03 - 00:31:04] said anything about this
[00:31:04 - 00:31:05] I'm not going to announce it
[00:31:05 - 00:31:06] officially.
[00:31:06 - 00:31:07] But we have something new
[00:31:07 - 00:31:08] in the works for y'all.
[00:31:08 - 00:31:09] Wait.
[00:31:09 - 00:31:10] No, no, no.
[00:31:10 - 00:31:11] We talk about this.
[00:31:11 - 00:31:12] We have something new
[00:31:12 - 00:31:13] in the works
[00:31:13 - 00:31:14] that will come out
[00:31:14 - 00:31:15] weekly.
[00:31:15 - 00:31:16] And that's all
[00:31:16 - 00:31:17] I'm going to say.
[00:31:17 - 00:31:18] We do.
[00:31:18 - 00:31:20] It's a very active conversation
[00:31:20 - 00:31:21] but we do.
[00:31:21 - 00:31:22] But I think it's going to happen
[00:31:22 - 00:31:23] next month
[00:31:23 - 00:31:24] based on what we're talking about.
[00:31:24 - 00:31:25] Next month.
[00:31:25 - 00:31:26] Yes.
[00:31:26 - 00:31:27] So if you're really into
[00:31:27 - 00:31:28] stolen online
[00:31:28 - 00:31:29] we're working on some stuff
[00:31:29 - 00:31:30] that works out about.
[00:31:30 - 00:31:31] We actually kind of have a line
[00:31:31 - 00:31:32] in the pipeline like
[00:31:32 - 00:31:33] where the show's going.
[00:31:33 - 00:31:34] Where the show's going.
[00:31:34 - 00:31:35] Yeah.
[00:31:35 - 00:31:36] If you're just
[00:31:36 - 00:31:37] if you're still watching
[00:31:37 - 00:31:38] if you're here for Spider-Man
[00:31:38 - 00:31:39] welcome.
[00:31:39 - 00:31:40] Welcome.
[00:31:40 - 00:31:41] Subscribe.
[00:31:41 - 00:31:42] But we are excited
