[00:00:00 - 00:00:05] Breaking news from ESPN. This is a spoiler warning for House of the Dragon season 3 episode 7
[00:00:05 - 00:00:11] Ulf has entered the transfer portal and he's committed to a new team.
[00:00:11 - 00:00:14] That's so funny. Yep, that's true. Roll a joke.
[00:00:25 - 00:00:29] Welcome back to Soul My Line, a fireside film podcast where we talk about TV2.
[00:00:29 - 00:00:34] I'm Grant. And I'm Drew. We are breaking down episode 7 of season 3 of House of the Dragons.
[00:00:34 - 00:00:37] Yes, we are. Lots of words there. But I like this episode.
[00:00:37 - 00:00:40] I liked it more than I liked the last one.
[00:00:40 - 00:00:43] I think some people, again, have been in our comment section saying,
[00:00:43 - 00:00:47] you guys are too down on this season when you say it's slow.
[00:00:47 - 00:00:50] Listen, we're allowed to say pacing is slow at points.
[00:00:50 - 00:00:52] This is, we know that that's the nature of the show.
[00:00:52 - 00:00:56] We can prefer faster paced moments and still appreciate what the show is doing.
[00:00:56 - 00:01:02] I think we are really starting to get to the point where all of these pieces are in place for a bangin' finale.
[00:01:02 - 00:01:04] Hypothetically.
[00:01:04 - 00:01:09] If House of the Dragon does a finale, which they haven't done since season 1.
[00:01:09 - 00:01:10] So we'll see.
[00:01:10 - 00:01:11] Yep.
[00:01:11 - 00:01:15] I don't know, but Drew, what did you think? Maybe just a random moment of this episode?
[00:01:15 - 00:01:19] I liked it. I thought we had super interesting things happening.
[00:01:19 - 00:01:20] I agree.
[00:01:20 - 00:01:22] Obviously spoilers for the whole episode.
[00:01:22 - 00:01:23] Yes.
[00:01:24 - 00:01:27] Probably my favorite moment was the four-dragging collision.
[00:01:27 - 00:01:28] That was pretty cool.
[00:01:28 - 00:01:29] That was sick.
[00:01:29 - 00:01:32] It's like, ah, this is the type of stuff that we have been building towards.
[00:01:32 - 00:01:34] So it was a cool little payoff there.
[00:01:34 - 00:01:37] Yeah, I think all the character motivations make sense.
[00:01:37 - 00:01:43] I like that Allison is at the castle with the witch lady, Perron Hall.
[00:01:43 - 00:01:44] And Alice.
[00:01:44 - 00:01:46] I'll keep track of the names for you as best as possible.
[00:01:46 - 00:01:47] Yeah.
[00:01:47 - 00:01:48] I think that's interesting.
[00:01:48 - 00:01:52] I think that, I patched, man, what's his name?
[00:01:52 - 00:01:53] Aegon.
[00:01:53 - 00:01:54] Aegon.
[00:01:54 - 00:01:56] He's a horny little dude.
[00:01:56 - 00:01:57] Yep.
[00:01:57 - 00:01:58] Kissing his mom when it's not actually his mom.
[00:01:58 - 00:01:59] Oh, I'm sorry.
[00:01:59 - 00:02:00] I thought, amen.
[00:02:00 - 00:02:01] Amen.
[00:02:01 - 00:02:02] I'm so sorry.
[00:02:02 - 00:02:03] Yeah, yeah.
[00:02:03 - 00:02:04] Aegon has a lot of screen time this episode though.
[00:02:04 - 00:02:06] Yeah, which is good, because he hasn't been in the season at all, dude.
[00:02:06 - 00:02:07] Very appreciative of that.
[00:02:07 - 00:02:09] He's actually becoming a very interesting character.
[00:02:09 - 00:02:10] He is interesting.
[00:02:10 - 00:02:12] He's pretty bratty in season 2.
[00:02:12 - 00:02:14] He's still kind of bratty here.
[00:02:14 - 00:02:16] But it's a little more like...
[00:02:16 - 00:02:17] But he's less bratty.
[00:02:17 - 00:02:21] He's realizing that he can be king, and also like he's earning it a little bit.
[00:02:21 - 00:02:23] He did just get poisoned by his mom.
[00:02:23 - 00:02:24] Amen does.
[00:02:24 - 00:02:25] So we'll see.
[00:02:25 - 00:02:26] I'm talking about Amen.
[00:02:26 - 00:02:27] Okay, well...
[00:02:27 - 00:02:28] Oh, you're talking about Aegon.
[00:02:28 - 00:02:29] Aegon's bratty.
[00:02:29 - 00:02:31] Aegon is postman.
[00:02:31 - 00:02:32] Yes, he's bratty.
[00:02:32 - 00:02:33] He is bratty.
[00:02:33 - 00:02:34] He is bratty.
[00:02:34 - 00:02:35] I guess Amen is bratty.
[00:02:35 - 00:02:36] Amen was also bratty.
[00:02:36 - 00:02:37] They're all kind of bratty.
[00:02:37 - 00:02:38] They're all...
[00:02:38 - 00:02:39] All the Targaryens are bratty.
[00:02:39 - 00:02:41] No, okay, so I should start with Amons.
[00:02:41 - 00:02:46] Amons, once he's vying for the throne himself, which he's kind of been doing for two seasons now.
[00:02:46 - 00:02:47] Yep.
[00:02:47 - 00:02:48] He's at Heron Hall.
[00:02:48 - 00:02:49] Yep.
[00:02:49 - 00:02:50] He's with Alice.
[00:02:50 - 00:02:51] His mom shows up.
[00:02:51 - 00:02:52] Yep.
[00:02:52 - 00:02:56] And then, I guess my old constant warning, he kisses his mom.
[00:02:56 - 00:02:57] He does kiss his mom.
[00:02:57 - 00:02:58] Again.
[00:02:58 - 00:02:59] That was weird.
[00:02:59 - 00:03:00] Well, it's not his mom though.
[00:03:00 - 00:03:01] But then it turns out it's not his mom.
[00:03:01 - 00:03:02] It's Alice.
[00:03:02 - 00:03:03] It turns out to be Alice.
[00:03:03 - 00:03:05] Because Alice wants a son.
[00:03:05 - 00:03:06] Yes.
[00:03:06 - 00:03:07] Yep.
[00:03:07 - 00:03:08] He's also a 400 year old witch.
[00:03:08 - 00:03:09] Yep.
[00:03:09 - 00:03:10] So there you have it.
[00:03:10 - 00:03:14] And then his actual mom shows up with a guy who's trying to kill him.
[00:03:14 - 00:03:15] Yep.
[00:03:15 - 00:03:18] And Amons, I don't know if he reads it or if he's just like...
[00:03:18 - 00:03:22] I think he's just a deeply mistrusting person and just kills people for the heck of it.
[00:03:22 - 00:03:24] And so, yeah, he kills that guy.
[00:03:24 - 00:03:28] And then Alice is put in the situation of like, well, crap, now I have to kill myself.
[00:03:28 - 00:03:31] I don't have a protector nor a assassin.
[00:03:31 - 00:03:32] So, yeah.
[00:03:32 - 00:03:34] Very interesting dynamics there.
[00:03:34 - 00:03:35] Any thoughts?
[00:03:35 - 00:03:36] I thought it was interesting.
[00:03:36 - 00:03:38] I think it all makes sense.
[00:03:38 - 00:03:42] I think it makes sense that he trusts his mom.
[00:03:42 - 00:03:44] And Alice is like, Ayo.
[00:03:44 - 00:03:47] She clearly is here for a nefarious reason.
[00:03:47 - 00:03:49] And he doesn't care.
[00:03:49 - 00:03:50] He does not care.
[00:03:50 - 00:03:53] And he's still kind of into his mom, which is also...
[00:03:53 - 00:03:54] So weird.
[00:03:54 - 00:03:56] Very strange.
[00:03:56 - 00:03:58] I guess like, I have the mental block of like...
[00:03:58 - 00:04:01] Or mental thing of like, okay, they're not actually siblings in real life.
[00:04:01 - 00:04:03] So I can kind of like wash it.
[00:04:03 - 00:04:04] Yeah.
[00:04:04 - 00:04:08] At least for like, my own internal reaction.
[00:04:08 - 00:04:10] I'm like, that's weird.
[00:04:10 - 00:04:11] But yeah.
[00:04:11 - 00:04:12] So I don't know.
[00:04:12 - 00:04:14] I think Aemon is interesting.
[00:04:14 - 00:04:15] I want to ship to Aegon now though.
[00:04:15 - 00:04:16] Oh, that's good.
[00:04:16 - 00:04:20] Because I would say he's arguably the most interesting character this episode.
[00:04:20 - 00:04:24] Maybe besides Daemon and Rhaenyra's and that dynamic.
[00:04:24 - 00:04:25] And Rhaena.
[00:04:25 - 00:04:26] Rhaena is also interesting.
[00:04:26 - 00:04:27] Yeah.
[00:04:27 - 00:04:29] But I would say Aegon kind of like...
[00:04:29 - 00:04:31] They set up the dragon thing.
[00:04:31 - 00:04:32] He's still alive.
[00:04:32 - 00:04:33] Like, Sunfire's still alive.
[00:04:33 - 00:04:35] They set that up a few episodes ago.
[00:04:35 - 00:04:37] And then he has this moment where he's like, I don't care.
[00:04:37 - 00:04:38] Like, I'm the king.
[00:04:38 - 00:04:40] I'm going to die here.
[00:04:40 - 00:04:42] And then he kind of has power.
[00:04:42 - 00:04:44] And then he has a dragon show up.
[00:04:44 - 00:04:46] He's like, well, my dragon's here.
[00:04:46 - 00:04:47] I'm just going to burn everybody.
[00:04:47 - 00:04:48] So I will burn this entire army.
[00:04:48 - 00:04:49] And then he does.
[00:04:49 - 00:04:50] Yep.
[00:04:50 - 00:04:54] And it's nice to have another player back on the board who is interesting.
[00:04:54 - 00:04:58] And who is arguably the rightful king, depending on who you stand for.
[00:04:58 - 00:05:02] I would say there are currently three kings slash queens.
[00:05:02 - 00:05:04] I think there's kind of four.
[00:05:04 - 00:05:05] There is kind of four.
[00:05:05 - 00:05:06] Because you have Daren.
[00:05:06 - 00:05:07] Yep.
[00:05:07 - 00:05:11] So probably the best candidate for the job right now.
[00:05:11 - 00:05:13] And then you have Ranira.
[00:05:13 - 00:05:14] Right.
[00:05:14 - 00:05:15] Then you have Aegon.
[00:05:15 - 00:05:16] Right.
[00:05:16 - 00:05:18] And then Amon's like, hey, I'm going to like start my own thing.
[00:05:18 - 00:05:19] I'm going to start my own empire.
[00:05:19 - 00:05:20] Yeah.
[00:05:20 - 00:05:23] So yeah, everybody's kind of just like vying for the throne right now,
[00:05:23 - 00:05:25] which is a very game of thrones thing.
[00:05:25 - 00:05:26] Yeah.
[00:05:26 - 00:05:28] But yeah, I mean, anything else you want to say about Aegon,
[00:05:28 - 00:05:30] besides I felt the scene was sick?
[00:05:30 - 00:05:31] Or that.
[00:05:31 - 00:05:32] I think the scene is awesome.
[00:05:32 - 00:05:37] I like that he finally stood for something and kind of said,
[00:05:37 - 00:05:42] I had enough of being this lonesome like beggar basically.
[00:05:42 - 00:05:45] I think it's very interesting that Laris is just like, all right.
[00:05:45 - 00:05:47] I know that was interesting that he's up and dipped.
[00:05:47 - 00:05:49] It makes a lot of sense for his character.
[00:05:49 - 00:05:52] I would say like, yeah, he would flee in that situation.
[00:05:52 - 00:05:53] Right.
[00:05:53 - 00:05:55] But yeah, I thought that was a cool scene.
[00:05:55 - 00:06:00] I'm very, I personally know where this story goes.
[00:06:00 - 00:06:02] So I know where Aegon's going.
[00:06:02 - 00:06:04] You've said that he's a big player.
[00:06:04 - 00:06:08] He is an important piece of the end of this story.
[00:06:08 - 00:06:10] I haven't read the book, but I did know this plot point.
[00:06:10 - 00:06:13] And so I'm interested to see where this continues to go
[00:06:13 - 00:06:15] because I like the journey we're on here.
[00:06:15 - 00:06:16] Right.
[00:06:16 - 00:06:18] I want to talk about Runira.
[00:06:18 - 00:06:19] Okay.
[00:06:19 - 00:06:20] Daemon.
[00:06:20 - 00:06:21] Yep.
[00:06:21 - 00:06:22] Reyna.
[00:06:22 - 00:06:23] Yep.
[00:06:23 - 00:06:25] We've got this really crazy dynamic going right now.
[00:06:25 - 00:06:28] It's been set up all season and it kind of comes ahead.
[00:06:29 - 00:06:30] Yeah.
[00:06:30 - 00:06:32] I think it's interesting.
[00:06:32 - 00:06:37] I, I mean, every, the whole time I'm watching this when
[00:06:37 - 00:06:40] Runira is super pissed, I'm like, surely you understand
[00:06:40 - 00:06:42] Daemon's perspective because you, Runira,
[00:06:42 - 00:06:44] would have done the exact same thing.
[00:06:44 - 00:06:45] Yes.
[00:06:45 - 00:06:48] And I think that's like, Runira kind of knows that.
[00:06:48 - 00:06:49] Yeah.
[00:06:49 - 00:06:51] Like she has this scene where she's like,
[00:06:51 - 00:06:52] yeah, I don't know.
[00:06:52 - 00:06:54] It's kind of an emotional scene where, you know,
[00:06:54 - 00:06:55] it's all comes ahead.
[00:06:55 - 00:06:56] The dragon collision happens.
[00:06:56 - 00:06:58] And then Daemon's like, I'm sorry.
[00:06:58 - 00:07:00] I really wasn't trying to betray you.
[00:07:00 - 00:07:01] Right.
[00:07:01 - 00:07:02] I'm also just trying to protect my kid.
[00:07:02 - 00:07:03] I'm just trying to protect my daughter.
[00:07:03 - 00:07:04] Yeah.
[00:07:04 - 00:07:06] And she's, he's like, I just want you to know that.
[00:07:06 - 00:07:08] And she kind of like, even though she's like,
[00:07:08 - 00:07:11] go the frick away, she kind of also recognizes that
[00:07:11 - 00:07:12] to a certain extent too.
[00:07:12 - 00:07:13] Like she doesn't just say like,
[00:07:13 - 00:07:15] Daemon, I'm killing you right now,
[00:07:15 - 00:07:16] which she could.
[00:07:16 - 00:07:17] Yeah, she could.
[00:07:17 - 00:07:19] So I don't know.
[00:07:19 - 00:07:21] I think that there's obviously plot points,
[00:07:21 - 00:07:23] loose threads still out in the void,
[00:07:23 - 00:07:25] but I like where we landed here.
[00:07:25 - 00:07:29] And she's still defended Daemon to the girl
[00:07:29 - 00:07:31] who keeps running like, if you like.
[00:07:31 - 00:07:32] Vasariya.
[00:07:32 - 00:07:33] I freaking, I hate Vasariya.
[00:07:33 - 00:07:34] I'm so sorry.
[00:07:34 - 00:07:35] I just, she's the one.
[00:07:35 - 00:07:36] She is really annoying.
[00:07:36 - 00:07:37] I'm not going to lie.
[00:07:37 - 00:07:38] She is very annoying.
[00:07:38 - 00:07:40] But she kind of got flamed this episode.
[00:07:40 - 00:07:41] She did.
[00:07:41 - 00:07:42] And she was, yeah.
[00:07:42 - 00:07:43] This is about time.
[00:07:43 - 00:07:45] From, I don't even know who this other random girl
[00:07:45 - 00:07:47] who was like, you're kind of terrible.
[00:07:47 - 00:07:49] I forgot who that person was.
[00:07:49 - 00:07:51] But she just showed up and had a whole conversation
[00:07:51 - 00:07:52] with Vasariya.
[00:07:52 - 00:07:53] And I was like, cool.
[00:07:53 - 00:07:54] I was like.
[00:07:54 - 00:07:55] I don't know.
[00:07:55 - 00:07:56] Whatever.
[00:07:56 - 00:07:57] So many names.
[00:07:57 - 00:08:01] But yeah, I think that I like the conflict that Daemon
[00:08:01 - 00:08:03] and Raniya had that was set up all season.
[00:08:03 - 00:08:04] I agree.
[00:08:04 - 00:08:05] I think it was really good.
[00:08:05 - 00:08:06] I think every character choice made sense there.
[00:08:06 - 00:08:08] And I think the result made sense too.
[00:08:08 - 00:08:10] Like Raniya is still trying to hold on to a little bit
[00:08:10 - 00:08:13] of what her father Vasariya stood for on the throne.
[00:08:13 - 00:08:14] Yeah.
[00:08:14 - 00:08:15] And not just like kill everybody.
[00:08:15 - 00:08:17] But then you see early in the episode that scene
[00:08:17 - 00:08:19] between Raniya and Elena when she's like,
[00:08:19 - 00:08:22] tell me, and she's like becoming a little violent
[00:08:22 - 00:08:23] with Elena.
[00:08:23 - 00:08:24] Tell me what you've seen.
[00:08:24 - 00:08:27] So like she's starting to lose that grip a little bit.
[00:08:27 - 00:08:28] Elena is super interesting.
[00:08:28 - 00:08:29] She has gotten very interesting.
[00:08:29 - 00:08:31] She's kind of a wild card.
[00:08:31 - 00:08:32] Yes.
[00:08:32 - 00:08:34] Like you see, I thought her dream sequences were sick.
[00:08:34 - 00:08:35] I thought it was awesome.
[00:08:35 - 00:08:36] Visually very cool.
[00:08:36 - 00:08:40] But like she has one dream of her baby getting taken away.
[00:08:40 - 00:08:41] Right.
[00:08:41 - 00:08:42] And another of her on a dragon.
[00:08:42 - 00:08:43] Yep.
[00:08:43 - 00:08:44] And I don't know.
[00:08:44 - 00:08:46] It's just very interesting.
[00:08:46 - 00:08:48] Where is her character going to go?
[00:08:48 - 00:08:49] Who knows?
[00:08:49 - 00:08:51] But she's like very important to the story this season.
[00:08:51 - 00:08:52] Right.
[00:08:52 - 00:08:54] And she was kind of just there the past two seasons.
[00:08:54 - 00:08:57] So I am a fan of it for sure.
[00:08:57 - 00:08:59] There was one other character that sprung to my mind
[00:08:59 - 00:09:01] that we haven't talked about.
[00:09:01 - 00:09:02] And we've had a little bit.
[00:09:02 - 00:09:03] Oh, Ormund.
[00:09:03 - 00:09:05] But he didn't really do a lot.
[00:09:05 - 00:09:06] He didn't do a lot.
[00:09:06 - 00:09:09] I mean, the biggest stuff is like he talked to Coralus.
[00:09:09 - 00:09:10] Oh yeah.
[00:09:10 - 00:09:11] Coralus is captured.
[00:09:11 - 00:09:13] And is missing a finger now.
[00:09:13 - 00:09:14] Right.
[00:09:14 - 00:09:15] That was crazy.
[00:09:15 - 00:09:16] That was kind of crazy.
[00:09:16 - 00:09:17] Very Ormund thing to do.
[00:09:17 - 00:09:18] He's very conniving.
[00:09:18 - 00:09:20] But there's still continues to build some tension
[00:09:20 - 00:09:21] between Ormund and Darren.
[00:09:21 - 00:09:23] Darren's like, I don't agree with this.
[00:09:23 - 00:09:24] Right.
[00:09:24 - 00:09:25] I don't like what he's doing.
[00:09:25 - 00:09:26] Right.
[00:09:26 - 00:09:27] But I look he can't leave at all.
[00:09:27 - 00:09:28] Yeah.
[00:09:28 - 00:09:30] Because if I leave, he's just going to keep doing what he's doing
[00:09:30 - 00:09:32] and no one's going to like me.
[00:09:32 - 00:09:37] And so Darren and Gwain are kind of just stuck there right now.
[00:09:37 - 00:09:40] But then the other big important thing
[00:09:40 - 00:09:42] which we opened this episode with
[00:09:42 - 00:09:44] is that he flips Ulf.
[00:09:44 - 00:09:45] True.
[00:09:45 - 00:09:46] Ulf's commitment.
[00:09:46 - 00:09:47] True.
[00:09:47 - 00:09:50] And Ulf is now for Ormund and Darren.
[00:09:50 - 00:09:53] That's what he said in this episode and I completely forgot who.
[00:09:53 - 00:09:56] I think it's Ormund who basically says like,
[00:09:56 - 00:09:59] or someone says to him like Runeer has six dragons.
[00:09:59 - 00:10:03] And then he says like, yeah, but they're six commoners.
[00:10:03 - 00:10:05] And I think it's super interesting.
[00:10:05 - 00:10:07] Well, that was, that was Amont.
[00:10:07 - 00:10:09] I think he was having the conversation with Allison.
[00:10:09 - 00:10:10] But yes, that's right.
[00:10:10 - 00:10:11] Right.
[00:10:11 - 00:10:15] That is an important thing of like the quote unquote illegitimacy
[00:10:15 - 00:10:18] of all of Runeer is everything of like her children.
[00:10:18 - 00:10:20] And of her dragon riders are like, they're not really.
[00:10:20 - 00:10:22] They're not the most loyal people.
[00:10:22 - 00:10:23] Also they haven't been trained.
[00:10:23 - 00:10:24] Right.
[00:10:24 - 00:10:25] Like dragon riding really.
[00:10:25 - 00:10:26] They're just kind of hopped on the dragons.
[00:10:26 - 00:10:30] And so yeah, when Ormund offers Ulf like Lordship
[00:10:30 - 00:10:33] and hire up Lordship too, Ulf's like, yeah, I'll take that.
[00:10:33 - 00:10:36] Which he asked Runeer for and she didn't give him, right?
[00:10:36 - 00:10:37] Yeah.
[00:10:37 - 00:10:40] Like Runeer hasn't exactly been the best at listening
[00:10:40 - 00:10:42] and honoring others when like,
[00:10:42 - 00:10:45] she hasn't been making a lot of personal sacrifices.
[00:10:45 - 00:10:49] She didn't give Corliss the Adam of Hall,
[00:10:49 - 00:10:53] like any of his sons, the Velaryon last name,
[00:10:53 - 00:10:55] which like in the grand scheme of things would have been
[00:10:55 - 00:10:56] a footnote in a book.
[00:10:56 - 00:10:59] And then yeah, she didn't really honor Ulf at all
[00:10:59 - 00:11:01] and give him any freedom.
[00:11:01 - 00:11:03] She just, yeah, I did use him as kind of just,
[00:11:03 - 00:11:05] I need you as a tool.
[00:11:05 - 00:11:06] So.
[00:11:06 - 00:11:07] Yep.
[00:11:07 - 00:11:08] Yeah.
[00:11:08 - 00:11:09] Super interesting.
[00:11:09 - 00:11:10] Why Ulf would have switched over.
[00:11:10 - 00:11:14] But I don't know any thoughts or predictions
[00:11:14 - 00:11:16] about where the finale is going to go.
[00:11:16 - 00:11:17] Again, we haven't read the book,
[00:11:17 - 00:11:21] so we're kind of just chilling with the show.
[00:11:21 - 00:11:24] I basically no clue where we're going
[00:11:24 - 00:11:26] because I have very little Game of Thrones experience.
[00:11:26 - 00:11:32] But I mean, I think, I mean, I feel like out of it,
[00:11:32 - 00:11:35] if anything, the show is very unpredictable.
[00:11:35 - 00:11:38] And I'm like, anybody could die at any moment.
[00:11:38 - 00:11:39] Well, let's do this.
[00:11:39 - 00:11:42] If you had to predict one character to die next,
[00:11:42 - 00:11:44] what is it and why?
[00:11:44 - 00:11:45] Um.
[00:11:51 - 00:11:52] I don't know.
[00:11:52 - 00:11:55] Maybe Damon.
[00:11:55 - 00:11:58] Oh, I don't think Damon does die to my knowledge,
[00:11:58 - 00:11:59] but that would be really interesting.
[00:11:59 - 00:12:00] Yeah.
[00:12:00 - 00:12:03] I think, again, haven't read the book.
[00:12:03 - 00:12:04] I think Allison.
[00:12:04 - 00:12:05] Oh, okay.
[00:12:05 - 00:12:07] I think I could see Allison dying.
[00:12:07 - 00:12:10] Because Amon almost died like twice.
[00:12:10 - 00:12:11] Right.
[00:12:11 - 00:12:12] But he'll probably be fine.
[00:12:12 - 00:12:15] I don't think he's going to die because Alice is on his side.
[00:12:15 - 00:12:16] Yes.
[00:12:16 - 00:12:19] And then name one character you want to die.
[00:12:19 - 00:12:21] You're like, I just hate them or want them to die.
[00:12:21 - 00:12:22] I mean, Ormond's horrible.
[00:12:22 - 00:12:25] Ormond is horrible, but he is fun to watch.
[00:12:25 - 00:12:27] He is fun to watch.
[00:12:27 - 00:12:29] Renear is not that great either.
[00:12:29 - 00:12:33] I don't want Renear to die, but I'm like, I don't know.
[00:12:33 - 00:12:35] I do know the end of Renear's story, so.
[00:12:35 - 00:12:36] Oh, you do.
[00:12:36 - 00:12:37] Yeah, I do.
[00:12:37 - 00:12:38] Well, here's the thing with Game of Thrones.
[00:12:38 - 00:12:39] Okay.
[00:12:39 - 00:12:41] A lot of stuff is referenced within itself.
[00:12:41 - 00:12:45] So if you've seen some content, you actually end up knowing stuff about other content.
[00:12:45 - 00:12:46] Right.
[00:12:46 - 00:12:51] Like, I'm pretty sure Sir Duncan is mentioned in Game of Thrones multiple times.
[00:12:51 - 00:12:52] Yeah, he is.
[00:12:52 - 00:12:54] So like, you can kind of pick up on the storyline.
[00:12:54 - 00:12:59] Like, yes, I know what happens to Duncan Egg, even though the actual stories haven't been written.
[00:12:59 - 00:13:01] Like, you end up knowing.
[00:13:01 - 00:13:08] So, it's interesting there, but regardless, I think that if I wanted one character to die,
[00:13:08 - 00:13:09] I would love Masaria to die.
[00:13:09 - 00:13:11] I think she's so annoying.
[00:13:11 - 00:13:12] She is really annoying.
[00:13:12 - 00:13:13] But we'll see.
[00:13:13 - 00:13:16] So, Drew, how are you feeling about Game of Thrones right now?
[00:13:16 - 00:13:21] Like, I know House of the Dragons is a little bit of a different flavor from An Eye of the Seven Kingdoms.
[00:13:21 - 00:13:24] I miss An Eye of the Seven Kingdoms every time I turn on House of the Dragons episode.
[00:13:24 - 00:13:29] I, again, I recently rewatched it and I just finished reading all the three novellas that are out.
[00:13:29 - 00:13:30] And I miss it.
[00:13:30 - 00:13:31] Yeah.
[00:13:31 - 00:13:32] Really bad.
[00:13:32 - 00:13:33] So, I'm excited to proceed too.
[00:13:33 - 00:13:34] I still like House of the Dragons.
[00:13:34 - 00:13:37] I understand why people are massive fans of the show.
[00:13:37 - 00:13:38] I get it.
[00:13:38 - 00:13:45] But I will say in the grand scheme of things, the show, I don't think I would watch the show unless we were doing this podcast.
[00:13:45 - 00:13:47] I think it is a weaker overall entry.
[00:13:47 - 00:13:54] I know Game of Thrones ends pretty poorly, but like, I think week to week House of the Dragon is weaker than Game of Thrones.
[00:13:54 - 00:13:55] In my personal opinion, I know.
[00:13:55 - 00:13:57] The highs of House of the Dragon are high.
[00:13:57 - 00:14:01] Yes, but I think the characters of Game of Thrones are a huge step up.
[00:14:01 - 00:14:10] Even though there's some great characters here, like, you just love watching, I mean, literally almost every single character in Game of Thrones besides Bran.
[00:14:10 - 00:14:13] I'm actually not a big Daenerys fan, but whatever.
[00:14:13 - 00:14:19] But like, I think here there's a lot of characters that I'm like, I like them from a writing standpoint.
[00:14:19 - 00:14:25] I'm not excited when I sit down to watch House of the Dragon on a Sunday night to see their faces on the screen.
[00:14:25 - 00:14:26] Yeah.
[00:14:26 - 00:14:28] So, that's my tangent.
[00:14:28 - 00:14:29] Yeah.
[00:14:29 - 00:14:31] There will be some House of the Dragon defenders in the comments.
[00:14:31 - 00:14:32] That's fine.
[00:14:32 - 00:14:33] And that's okay.
[00:14:33 - 00:14:38] Look, again, I respect that y'all like this show, but this show is definitely not for like everybody.
[00:14:38 - 00:14:44] I think, again, Drew, had you have seen Game of Thrones prior to this, I think you would enjoy this significantly more.
[00:14:44 - 00:14:45] That's probably true.
[00:14:45 - 00:14:46] So.
[00:14:46 - 00:14:47] I'm not enjoying myself.
[00:14:47 - 00:14:49] You have an interesting perspective.
[00:14:49 - 00:14:51] Yeah, I try.
[00:14:51 - 00:14:55] We haven't done this question in a while, and I'll ask you after the finale next week.
[00:14:55 - 00:15:02] But on a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you want to watch Game of Thrones right now?
[00:15:02 - 00:15:06] Like 4.9.
[00:15:06 - 00:15:10] What number do we need to get to for you to actually sit down and watch Game of Thrones?
[00:15:10 - 00:15:11] It's just a time commitment, I think.
[00:15:11 - 00:15:12] That's the biggest thing.
[00:15:12 - 00:15:13] Let's say you have all the time in the world.
[00:15:13 - 00:15:14] Then I'd probably watch it.
[00:15:14 - 00:15:15] Okay.
[00:15:15 - 00:15:16] Yeah.
[00:15:16 - 00:15:19] So, subscribe if you want us to have more time and money.
[00:15:19 - 00:15:20] Yeah, honestly, for real.
[00:15:20 - 00:15:21] I'm just kidding.
[00:15:21 - 00:15:24] But if you like our channel and you like our vibe, hit that subscribe button.
[00:15:24 - 00:15:25] Sure.
[00:15:25 - 00:15:27] Anything else you want to add about this episode of House of the Dragon?
[00:15:27 - 00:15:28] I mean, I thought it was good.
[00:15:28 - 00:15:29] I'm excited for the finale.
[00:15:29 - 00:15:30] I hope they actually execute.
[00:15:30 - 00:15:32] And it's not like a season two finale.
[00:15:32 - 00:15:34] Which was a little hermits.
[00:15:34 - 00:15:35] So yeah.
[00:15:35 - 00:15:37] I hope something actually interesting happens.
[00:15:37 - 00:15:39] I don't want to wait like three more years for season four.
[00:15:39 - 00:15:42] And we finally get the finale of season three and season four.
[00:15:42 - 00:15:43] Right.
[00:15:43 - 00:15:44] Because that would kind of be not the vibe.
[00:15:44 - 00:15:46] So, we'll see where it goes.
[00:15:46 - 00:15:47] I'm excited.
[00:15:47 - 00:15:48] I like this show.
[00:15:48 - 00:15:51] And let us know who you want to die in this season.
[00:15:51 - 00:15:53] Don't spoil it, though, if you don't.
[00:15:53 - 00:15:54] Yes.
[00:15:54 - 00:15:55] Don't spoil it, please.
[00:15:55 - 00:15:58] I thought the shot of Kristen Cole's head on a spike was kind of cool.
[00:15:58 - 00:15:59] That was pretty sick.
[00:15:59 - 00:16:00] Yeah.
[00:16:00 - 00:16:01] Anyway.
[00:16:01 - 00:16:02] So, thanks for tuning in.
[00:16:02 - 00:16:03] RIP to that guy.
[00:16:03 - 00:16:04] RIP, Kristen Cole.
[00:16:04 - 00:16:05] He did nothing for like five episodes.
[00:16:05 - 00:16:06] Yeah, for real.
[00:16:06 - 00:16:07] It was awesome.
[00:16:07 - 00:16:08] But yeah, thanks for tuning in, guys.
[00:16:08 - 00:16:11] We will get to House of the Dragon finale next week.
[00:16:11 - 00:16:13] What else do we got coming up on this podcast?
[00:16:13 - 00:16:17] We have a full week ahead, ladies and gentlemen.
[00:16:17 - 00:16:19] We are doing Spider-Man Hot Takes.
[00:16:19 - 00:16:21] We are doing Ted Lasso.
[00:16:21 - 00:16:22] Yep.
[00:16:22 - 00:16:24] Which is a very different vibe.
[00:16:24 - 00:16:25] It's a little bit of a gear shift.
[00:16:25 - 00:16:27] This might be the biggest vibe switch.
[00:16:27 - 00:16:29] House of the Dragon at Ted Lasso.
[00:16:29 - 00:16:31] It's a pretty big vibe switch for sure.
[00:16:31 - 00:16:32] In cinema history.
[00:16:32 - 00:16:33] Yeah.
[00:16:33 - 00:16:34] We got Ted Lasso.
[00:16:34 - 00:16:36] We have a surprise episode tomorrow.
[00:16:36 - 00:16:37] We do.
[00:16:37 - 00:16:39] With a special guest that is very exciting.
[00:16:39 - 00:16:40] Stay tuned.
[00:16:40 - 00:16:42] It's one of my favorite episodes, honestly.
[00:16:42 - 00:16:43] It's gonna be a lot of fun.
[00:16:43 - 00:16:45] Um, what else do we have?
[00:16:45 - 00:16:47] I mean, if we're talking grand scheme of things.
[00:16:47 - 00:16:48] Oh, yeah.
[00:16:48 - 00:16:49] Got lanterns, clay face.
[00:16:49 - 00:16:50] Yep.
[00:16:50 - 00:16:51] Spider-Man brand new day drops.
[00:16:51 - 00:16:53] If you want to check out our review on that.
[00:16:53 - 00:16:54] Stuff on the channel.
[00:16:54 - 00:16:56] Um, I mean, we have a bunch of artsy movies.
[00:16:56 - 00:16:59] If you're into stuff that will be nominated for the Oscars,
[00:16:59 - 00:17:00] like the Social Reckoning.
[00:17:00 - 00:17:01] Or the Ford.
[00:17:01 - 00:17:03] Or I Play Rocky, maybe.
[00:17:03 - 00:17:04] Maybe.
[00:17:04 - 00:17:05] We got all that.
[00:17:05 - 00:17:06] If you're into Resident Evil,
[00:17:06 - 00:17:08] we'll be reviewing that movie next month.
[00:17:08 - 00:17:09] Yep.
[00:17:09 - 00:17:10] Duneste is coming up.
[00:17:10 - 00:17:12] And so, you're into all the Marvel stuff.
[00:17:12 - 00:17:14] We have some Duneste discussions.
[00:17:14 - 00:17:16] We've got a lot of stuff in the works here.
[00:17:16 - 00:17:18] So, um, well, we got you covered.
